I say. Any borderland king who commits theft and murder, as well as those barbarians' thieves, ministers, youths, astrologers, those belonging to great figures, retinues, friends, relatives, companions, and those who have become ink relatives, when they see my stupa of Nirvana, if they create separation with a small effort of mind, Ananda, all of those will also generate roots of virtue through the Buddhas' teachings or the Buddhas' qualities. Ananda, those people I also truly gathered with the four objects of gathering when I was practicing the conduct of a Bodhisattva. Ananda, the result of all those roots of virtue is also Nirvana, and ultimately I will say that they will attain Nirvana. Ananda, look at how I have long gathered these beings with the four objects of gathering, and for a long time have made them correspond to the teachings of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat. Ananda, when the Tathagata enters the path and walks, the low becomes high, the high ground becomes low, the uneven places become even, the extremely low becomes extremely high, and the place where the Tathagata walks will return to its original state, and all the trees will bend, and all the tree gods will also prostrate. The place where the Tathagata walks will return to its original state, and all the cliffs, precipices, pits, grass, tree stumps, thorns, rubble, gravel, dense bushes, and uncomfortable cliffs will bend, become flat, clean, very subdued, without impurity, and fragrant and pleasant flowers will be scattered. Ananda, the Tathagata has previously done good deeds well in this way, therefore when walking on the road, he walks purely. Ananda, when the Tathagata enters the path, there is no sentient being that does not submit, and all inanimate things, such as mountains, valleys, cliffs, trees, grass, tree gum, medicine, and forests, whatever exists on the earth, how could they not submit when the Tathagata walks on the path?

Look, those are not many. What is the reason for that? Venerable Ananda, in this way, when I was practicing the conduct of a Bodhisattva in the past, I revered the Lama, revered greatly, paid homage and stayed. I stayed with extreme reverence for my parents. To the elderly, the middle-aged, and the young, friends and relatives, in-laws, Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, virtuous spiritual friends, Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, those with the five supernormal knowledges, and likewise, to other Shramanas and Brahmins, I paid reverence. With a joyful mind, I paid homage with my body and with my speech, from that door of revering the Lama, I showed reverence to all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, virtuous spiritual friends, Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, non-Buddhist sages, Shramanas, Brahmins, parents, friends, relatives, in-laws, and other elderly, middle-aged, young, and friends. Ananda, the result of my virtuous deeds is that, after the Tathagata attained enlightenment, when the Tathagata walks on the road, whether sentient or insentient things, those that are disrespectful, irreverent, and extremely irreverent are not many. Ananda, like treating the Lama, I gave many pure, beautiful, and pleasing gifts to the Tathagata and sentient beings with my own hands. Ananda, the result of that karma is that, when the Tathagata walks on the road, it becomes beautiful, pure, and extremely purified, and trees, mounds, and mud are cleared away. Ananda, when I was striving for the sake of unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment, for the benefit of all sentient beings, for the happiness of all sentient beings, for loving-kindness towards the world, and for the benefit and happiness of gods and humans, I always swept the road when Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, virtuous spiritual friends, Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and many non-Buddhist sages were walking on the road. I swept the places of dwelling, walking, and residing. I, with a mind of loving-kindness and a mind of equanimity

I, with an equal mind, a sincere mind, and a beneficial mind, sweep and purify. Ananda, with that root of virtue, in whatever direction and place the Tathagata stands, dwells, walks, sleeps, or enters the path, with minimal effort, those places become clean, pure, and level, like the palm of the hand. Ananda, whatever the qualities of the Tathagata's bodily activities, their limits are not easy to comprehend. Ananda, therefore, in order to make this matter vast and complete, some faithful sons or daughters of good family should, in any case, rejoice in the Tathagata, be pleased in mind, be respectful, and in order to greatly increase their devotion, I shall show you an example. Ananda, Mount Meru, the king of mountains, eighty-four thousand yojanas in height, arises from the great ocean. Eighty-four thousand yojanas are submerged in the water. Even though that great king of mountains has become as firm as a diamond, Ananda, it is not easy to harm even a single hair of the Tathagata after his complete passing into nirvana, let alone to move, change, or extract it; that is impossible. Ananda, let alone Mount Meru, the king of mountains, Ananda, the surrounding mountain king and the great surrounding mountain king, whose height is sixty-eight thousand yojanas, those diamond-like surrounding mountain king and great surrounding mountain king, it is not easy for them to bend or completely bend or extract a hair of the Tathagata after his complete passing into nirvana, let alone to make it disappear; that is impossible. Why is that? Ananda, it is like this: when I was previously practicing the conduct of a Bodhisattva, any sentient being that I had previously tamed was not easy to find. Ananda, I have placed fighting beings, reconciled and harmonized them, established them in stability and non-separation, and caused them to possess mutual love and a beneficial mind. Ananda, with those categories and that root of virtue, the body of the Tathagata is inseparable, and Ananda, the retinue of the Tathagata's attendants is inseparable.
