In order to make those who follow the wheel of samsara weary, how do these beings of samsara become weary of the dreadful wheel of samsara? In particular, they will strive especially to pursue desires, and in order to show that attaining Buddhahood is easy, they will strive, saying that the birth of the Tathagatas is like the udumbara flower. Therefore, saying that the Tathagatas, Arhats, perfectly complete Buddhas are like the sands of the Ganges, this is just an example. In stating the doctrine, I have said that, having observed the beings to be tamed, the appearance of the Tathagatas is as difficult to find as the udumbara flower. Mahamati, if the udumbara flower has never been seen by anyone before and will not be seen in the future, then, Mahamati, the Tathagatas are seen in the world and are visible even now. In order to speak according to their own ways, it was not said that the appearance of the Tathagatas is as difficult to find as the udumbara flower. Mahamati, if one speaks according to their own ways, one should not use examples that are beyond the world, because they are not believable, and therefore childish ordinary people will not believe. Because that Suchness is beyond mind, intellect, and consciousness, examples are not applicable to the realm of experience of the wisdom of my noble ones individually. That Suchness is the Tathagatas, therefore examples should not be set for them. However, Mahamati, this is just an example, like this: the Tathagatas are equal to the sands of the Ganges River; because they do not discriminate, they are equal and there is no inequality. Mahamati, for example, the sands of the Ganges River are stirred by fish, turtles, crocodiles, child-killers, humans, buffaloes, lions, elephants, horses, and so on, but they do not discriminate whether they are stirred or not, they are clear, stainless, and without discrimination. Similarly, Mahamati, the Tathagata, Arhat

The self-nature of the perfectly enlightened Buddhas, the wisdom of each individual noble being, is like the strength and power of the Ganges River's sands, and their supernormal knowledge. Although childish heretics disturb them with various debates, the Tathagatas, due to their past vows, do not discriminate, nor do they make various distinctions. With the complete perfection of all blissful samadhi, they do not discriminate towards sentient beings, nor do they make various distinctions. Therefore, the Tathagatas have no attachment or aversion, and are like the sands of the Ganges, without difference. For example, Great Wisdom, the self-nature of the Ganges River's sands is the nature of earth, and even if burned by the fire at the end of an eon, it will not abandon the nature of earth. Great Wisdom, because the earth is connected to the fire element, the earth will not be burned. Otherwise, foolish ordinary people would wrongly think with their distorted views that it would be burned, but in reality, the earth is born from the cause of fire, so it will not be burned. Similarly, Great Wisdom, the Dharmakaya of the Tathagatas is also like the sands of the Ganges, and will not be destroyed. For example, Great Wisdom, the sands of the Ganges are immeasurable. Similarly, Great Wisdom, the light rays of the Tathagatas are also immeasurable, and in order to urge sentient beings to fully mature, the Tathagatas will send the light rays into the mandala of the assembly of all Buddhas. For example, Great Wisdom, the sands of the Ganges do not change their nature, the sands remain in the state of sand. Similarly, Great Wisdom, the Tathagatas, Arhats, perfectly enlightened Buddhas, because they have cut off the cause of entering all existences, they neither enter samsara nor return from it. For example, Great Wisdom, the sands of the Ganges do not appear to decrease when they are reduced, nor do they appear to increase when they are increased. Similarly, Great Wisdom, because the Dharma has no form, the wisdom of the Tathagatas also does not decrease or increase through the effort to fully mature sentient beings. Great Wisdom, the Dharma has no form, and that which has form has destruction.

It is not without a body. For example, Mahamati, just as one cannot obtain butter or sesame oil by squeezing the sands of the Ganges River, even if one tries with all means, desiring butter and sesame oil. Mahamati, similarly, although the Tathagatas are afflicted by the sufferings of sentient beings, because they possess great compassion, the Tathagatas will not abandon the bliss of their own innate aspiration of the Dharmadhatu until they have liberated all sentient beings from suffering. For example, Mahamati, just as the sands of the Ganges River flow continuously in a stream, and it is not without water. Similarly, Mahamati, all the teachings of the Tathagatas flow continuously into Nirvana, therefore the Tathagatas are said to be equal to the sands of the Ganges River. Mahamati, the activity of benefiting beings does not apply to the Tathagatas. Mahamati, entering is the activity of benefiting beings. Mahamati, the beginning and end of Samsara cannot be known. If it is not known, how can it be said to be benefiting beings? Mahamati, if benefiting beings is annihilation, then ordinary people cannot fully understand it. Mahamati asked: Blessed One, if sentient beings cannot know the beginning and end of Samsara, then how can they know that beings can be liberated? The Blessed One replied: Mahamati, liberation is when one fully understands that the appearance of one's own mind is the external object, thereby completely ceasing the proliferation of beginningless time, the cause of the habitual tendencies of the conceptual thoughts of the evil realms, and one's own state becomes extremely pure. Mahamati, this is not destruction. Therefore, Mahamati, there is no need for endless talk. Mahamati, the so-called "endless end" is just a term for conceptual thought. If one thoroughly examines it with wisdom, there are no other external or internal beings other than conceptual thought. Mahamati, all dharmas are devoid of the knower and the known. Otherwise, because one cannot fully understand the conceptual thought that appears in one's own mind, conceptual thought will arise.
