If there is no proclamation of the ground, then there is neither entering nor returning. Mahamati, for children and noble ones, there is both entering and returning. Yogis who do not abandon diligence, each with their own wisdom, abide in happiness in this life. Mahamati, the realm of the Tathagatagarbha, the Alaya-vijnana, is difficult for Sravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and those among the heretics who hold speculative views to comprehend. Although it is completely pure in nature, it appears impure to them because it is near to being defiled by adventitious afflictions. But it is not so for the Tathagatas. Mahamati, for the Tathagatas, it becomes an object of direct experience like an amalaka fruit in the palm of the hand. Mahamati, it is precisely for the sake of the goddess Sri that the teaching is proclaimed, and for the sake of other Bodhisattvas who are pure in wisdom, subtle, vast, and wise, the Tathagatagarbha, the Alaya-vijnana, along with the seven consciousnesses, is proclaimed. In order to teach the Sravakas who are strongly attached to entering the non-self of phenomena, the realm of the Tathagata is explained for the sake of the goddess Sri. This is not a realm to be realized by Sravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and other heretics. Otherwise, Mahamati, the realm of the Tathagatagarbha, the Alaya-vijnana, is the realm of the Tathagata. Like you, subtle and wise faith, and Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas who discern with wisdom, are also the realm of those who rely on meaning. But it is not so for other heretics, Sravakas, and all Pratyekabuddhas who are attached to the literal meaning of the proclamation of the teaching. Therefore, Mahamati, you and other Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas should strive to fully understand the realm of all Tathagatas, the Tathagatagarbha, the Alaya-vijnana. It is not enough to merely hear it. To this, it should be said: The Tathagatagarbha, also possessing the seven consciousnesses, is thoroughly entered by the two graspings.

. Complete understanding will cease it. The appearance of mind is like an image, completely habituated since beginningless time. If one observes correctly as it is, although it resembles things, it has no substance. Just as a child grabs the tip of a finger, without looking at the moon. Likewise, those who are attached to letters do not understand my true nature. The mind exists like a dancer, and the intellect is like a mocker. The various consciousnesses together with the five, perceive appearances as if they were colors. The Sagathaakam Chapter Seven. Then, Mahamati Bodhisattva again requested the Blessed One: By what means can the nature of distinguishing the two selflessnesses, the order of Bodhisattvas and all other Bodhisattvas be connected, so that these dharmas will be cultivated? And by what means will these dharmas ultimately follow all the Buddha dharmas? And after following all the Buddha dharmas, how will the Tathagata enter into their respective self-realized states? Please, Blessed One, explain to me the five dharmas, nature, consciousness, and the nature of distinguishing the two selflessnesses. Sugata, please explain to me. The Blessed One said: Mahamati, therefore listen very well and keep it in mind, and I will explain it to you. Mahamati Bodhisattva replied: Yes, Blessed One. Then, Mahamati Bodhisattva listened again to the teachings of the Blessed One. The Blessed One said to him: Mahamati, I will explain to you the five dharmas, nature, consciousness, and the nature of distinguishing the two selflessnesses. That is: name, form, discrimination, correct wisdom, suchness, and the respective self-realizations of the Tathagata's self-realized noble state. Completely abandoning the views of permanence, annihilation, existence, and non-existence. Entering the gate of happiness in this life, abiding in happiness, this is obvious to yogis. Mahamati, regarding the five dharmas, nature, consciousness, and selflessness

and the two, as well as one's own mind, external things, and the absence of things, cannot be comprehended, therefore the conceptualizations of children arise, but not those of the noble ones. Mahamati asked: World Honored One, how is it that the conceptualizations of children arise, but not those of the noble ones? The World Honored One replied: Mahamati, because of attachment to names, concepts, and symbols, children follow their minds. Following their minds, they believe in various characteristics. Therefore, those with thoughts that fall into the view of self and what belongs to self show strong attachment to the flourishing of colors. Those who are obscured by ignorance after showing strong attachment are very greedy. Those who are very greedy perform actions arising from greed, hatred, and delusion. Having performed actions, like silkworms, those with wisdom completely entangled by their own conceptualizations are immersed in the ocean of samsara and solitary places, unable to transcend like the wheel of a watermill, because of delusion. Like the nature of illusion, mirage, and the moon in water, all dharmas that are separate from self and what belongs to self are not real, but arise from conceptualization. Separate from the basis of characteristics and characteristics, the arising of birth, dwelling, and destruction is inverted, arising from the conceptualization of one's own mind. They do not know that it does not arise from Ishvara, time, atoms, and the Pradhana. Mahamati, because children are distracted by names and characteristics, they follow characteristics, therefore they follow characteristics. In this regard, Mahamati, a characteristic is the appearance that transforms into the appearance of eye consciousness, which is called form. Similarly, for the various consciousnesses of ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind, they are called sound, smell, taste, touch, and dharma, which is said to be a characteristic. In this regard, Mahamati, conceptualization is what is named, such as elephant, horse, chariot, infantry, man, and woman, etc. Similarly, these are not others. Thus, the characteristics are clarified.
