That is discrimination. Mahamati, correct wisdom is not attached to names and characteristics, and because they arise suddenly from each other, it does not accommodate consciousness. Because permanence and annihilation do not exist, it does not fall into the grounds of all heretics, Sravakas, and Pratyekabuddhas, and this is called correct wisdom. Furthermore, Mahamati, correct wisdom does not attach Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas to names and things, nor does it attach characteristics to the absence of things. Completely abandoning the evil views of both extremes of addition and subtraction, knowing that the meaning of names and characteristics cannot be established, this is said to be Suchness. Mahamati, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who abides in Suchness, because he has attained the realm of realization without appearance, therefore attains the Bodhisattva's Joyful Ground. After he has attained the Bodhisattva's Joyful Ground, he will be completely free from all the practices of heretics and evil destinies, and will correctly enter the realization of the Dharma that transcends the world. Because he is far from speculative views and playfulness, and is familiar with self-nature, he cultivates the principles of Dharma that precede illusion, and will eventually attain the self-nature of the Dharma that is known by each of the noble ones, up to the Cloud of Dharma Ground. Below the Cloud of Dharma Ground, the flowers of Samadhi, powers, sovereignty, and superknowledge are extremely flourishing, and will be completely attained up to the Tathagata Ground. After obtaining it, in order to fully mature sentient beings, it is adorned with various emanated rays of light, and like the moon in the water, it teaches the Dharma to sentient beings who are closely connected with endless places and have different inclinations. Mahamati, Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas, in order to enter Suchness, will also obtain a body that is free from mind and consciousness. Again, Mahamati asked: World Honored One, are these three natures included in the five Dharmas? Or do they each accomplish their own nature? The World Honored One replied: Mahamati

Within this vast wisdom, three natures, eight consciousnesses, and two selflessnesses are also included. Among these, name and sign should be understood as the nature of complete imputation. Any conceptualization that abides and enters into vast wisdom, which is proclaimed as mind and mental factors, like the sun and its rays appearing simultaneously, the nature of various characteristics, that is, the nature that comprehends one's own conceptualization, is called the other-powered nature of vast wisdom. The true wisdom and suchness of vast wisdom, because they are indestructible, should be understood as the perfectly established nature. Furthermore, vast wisdom, because of its attachment to the appearance of its own mind, is divided into eight conceptualizations. Because of completely imputing characteristics that are not true, the clinging to self and what belongs to self is pacified, and thus two selflessnesses arise. Within these five dharmas of vast wisdom, all the Buddha's teachings and the boundaries that distinguish the grounds, as well as the individual noble ones of the Hearers, Solitary Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and Tathagatas, who engage in the realization of their own self-aware wisdom, are also included. Furthermore, the five dharmas of vast wisdom are sign, name, conceptualization, suchness, and true wisdom. Vast wisdom, what is sign in that? That which appears as the characteristics of shape, form, difference, appearance, and image, etc., that is sign. To that very sign, names such as pottery are given, and it is said, "This is not other than that suchness," that is name. Vast wisdom, by what is the name "happiness" or "armor" spoken, and the sign made clear? That which is proclaimed as mind and mental factors, that is conceptualization. Because these dharmas do not mutually experience each other and are not completely imputed, therefore, until wisdom is completely exhausted, name and sign are extremely imperceptible, that is suchness, the ultimate reality that is truly certain, the nature, essence, and imperceptibility of suchness, which I and other Tathagatas have also comprehended, and have declared as it is.

Established. Liberated. Clarified. By what is comprehended and truly realized, and by what is without cessation and impermanent, therefore not allowing for conceptualization. In accordance with the wisdom of each of my noble ones, not being the domain of outsiders, Śrāvakas, and Pratyekabuddhas, that is true wisdom, those great wisdoms are the five dharmas. Within these themselves are also included the three natures, the eight consciousnesses, the two selflessnesses, and all the Buddha-dharmas. In that great wisdom, you should skillfully apply your own wisdom. Furthermore, do not let others drive you, nor rely on others. It is said thus: The five dharmas and the nature, The eight consciousnesses themselves, In the two kinds of selflessness, All the Great Vehicle is included. Names and signs are all conceptualized, They are the characteristics of the two natures. True wisdom is thusness, It is the characteristic of the perfectly established. Then again, the Bodhisattva Mahāsattva Mahāmati asked the Blessed One thus: In what the Blessed One has taught, saying that the Tathāgatas, past, future, and present, are like the sands of the Ganges River, Blessed One, should this be taken according to the literal meaning, or is there another difference in meaning? Please, Blessed One, explain this. The Blessed One said: Mahāmati, it should not be taken according to the literal meaning. Mahāmati, the measure of the sands of the Ganges River would not even amount to the measure of the Buddhas of the three times. Why is that? Mahāmati, for example, like something that transcends the world, because of its similarity and dissimilarity, the simile is not a true simile. Mahāmati, the Tathāgatas, Arhats, perfectly enlightened Buddhas, because they are similar to something that transcends the world, do not show a dissimilar simile. Mahāmati, otherwise, ordinary beings, children who cling to permanence and impermanence, will be destroyed by the evil views of the outsiders.
