Suppose, if it is understood, it will be transformed. To this it is said: Whoever, with the sands of the Ganges, reaches the ultimate of the immortal Dharma, and thoroughly sees the guide, they are the ones who see the guide. Just like the sands of the Ganges, completely abandoning all faults, like flowing downstream and being constant, similarly, the Buddha is the Buddha. Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Mahamati again said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, please explain to me how all dharmas are destroyed due to momentary changes by the Sugata. Tathagata, Arhat, Samyaksambuddha, please explain to me. Blessed One, how are all dharmas momentary? The Blessed One said: Mahamati, therefore, listen very well and keep it in mind, and I will explain it to you. Mahamati replied: Yes, Blessed One. Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Mahamati listened to the Blessed One's teachings again, and the Blessed One said to him: Mahamati, all dharmas, what is called all dharmas is like this: virtue and non-virtue, conditioned and unconditioned, mundane and supramundane, with faults and without faults, with outflows and without outflows, grasped and ungrasped. Mahamati, in short, the five aggregates of clinging, mind, intellect, those born from the cause of the habits of consciousness, are the ordinary people whose habits of mind, intellect, and consciousness have increased, who discriminate between virtue and non-virtue. Mahamati, the bliss of samadhi and the states of equipoise are the things of dwelling in bliss in this life, and are called the undefiled virtue of the noble ones. Mahamati, virtue and non-virtue are like this: the eight consciousnesses. What are the eight? They are like this: the Tathagatagarbha Alaya-vijñana, as well as the mind, consciousness, and the collection of consciousnesses spoken of by the heretics.

The five are called the aggregates of consciousness. Great Wisdom, these five aggregates of consciousness, together with the aggregate of consciousness, the moments of good and non-good, differentiated from one to another, become distinct, and with the continuity of the stream, the body does not cease to be different. Once born, it ceases. Because one does not realize the appearance of one's own mind, another consciousness arises immediately after cessation, that is, the consciousness that grasps the differences in form arises. It arises in conjunction with the five aggregates of consciousness, and does not abide for a moment, so I say it is momentary. Great Wisdom, the Tathagata-garbha consciousness, proclaimed as the Tathagata-garbha, which turns together with the mind, is the moment formed by the habits of the entering consciousness, while the habits of non-outflow are not momentary. Those ordinary beings who cling to the theory of momentariness do not understand the momentariness and non-momentariness of all dharmas. Because they do not understand this, they give rise to the view of annihilation and destroy the unconditioned dharmas. Great Wisdom, the five aggregates of consciousness are neither samsara, nor the experience of pleasure and pain, nor the cause of nirvana. Great Wisdom, the Tathagata-garbha is the cause of not experiencing pleasure and pain, and because it possesses four kinds of habits, it has coming and going, which cannot be known by those who are deluded by the distinctions of the theory of momentariness of ordinary beings. Great Wisdom, furthermore, gold, vajra, relics of the Tathagata, attainment, and distinctions are all indestructible. Great Wisdom, if the direct perception of attainment is momentary, then the noble ones should become non-noble ones, but the noble ones will never become non-noble ones. Great Wisdom, gold and vajra, even if measured over kalpas, remain as they are, neither decreasing nor increasing. How can those foolish, flattering, and unskilled speakers know the meaning of all internal and external dharmas as momentary? Furthermore, Great Wisdom said to the Buddha: The six perfections spoken by the World Honored One are complete.

He said that if one does this, one will attain Buddhahood. What are those perfections? How can they be perfected? The Blessed One said: Great wisdom, there are three distinctions of perfections, what are the three? Namely, the worldly, the transcendental, and the supreme transcendental. Great wisdom, for the worldly perfections, due to attachment and clinging to self and what belongs to self, holding to the two extremes, in order to arise in various places of existence, for those who desire objects such as form, one perfects the perfection of giving. Similarly, great wisdom, children perfect the perfections of morality, patience, diligence, meditation, and wisdom, and in order to be born in the Brahma realm, they also attain various superknowledges. Furthermore, the transcendental perfections, just as children desire the nirvana of self-pleasure, cause the hearers and solitary realizers to be immersed in the thought of desiring nirvana, thereby diligently engaging in giving and so forth. Great wisdom, the supreme transcendental ones, the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas, for the supreme yoga, the yogis hold their own mind as merely an appearance, recognize their own mind as dualistic, do not allow discursive thoughts to enter, have no attachment to acceptance, do not cling to the nature of their own mind and form, and for the benefit and happiness of all sentient beings, thereby the perfection of giving arises. Not allowing any object to enter into discursive thought and meditating, this is morality, and it is also a perfection. Through completely understanding the object and the subject, thereby not allowing discursive thought to enter, patience is the perfection of patience. Diligently engaging in the upper and lower parts of the night, and seeing it as corresponding to yoga, in order to stop discursive thought, this is the perfection of diligence. In order to eliminate discursive thought, not clinging to the nirvana of the non-Buddhists.
