Since afflictions have no object, and they do not abide in any direction, how can they suddenly arise? Please explain that to me. The Blessed One said: For example, clouds are in the sky, they appear but are not as they seem. The arising of afflictions is also like that, they appear but are not as they seem. The boy asked: What is the non-erroneous reality? It is the nature of dharma, it is the very nature of dharma. In the non-erroneous reality of dharma, the erroneous reality is not seen. The Blessed One said: In order for children with discriminating minds to understand what they have wrongly discriminated, the Tathāgatas appear. The boy asked: By distinguishing with no birth, which perfect Buddha has appeared? In dharmas without birth, the appearance of a Buddha is not reasonable. The Blessed One said: Birth without birth is the supreme manifestation of the appearance of a Buddha. It is a conventional designation, but it does not exist in the ultimate sense. The boy asked: Now you still have two concepts of ultimate and conventional, isn't the one vehicle path you speak of, Gautama, contradictory? The Blessed One said: I do not contradict the path, I abide in non-contradiction, and I also reconcile discordant beings. Boy, you should understand that. The boy asked: If sentient beings are not visible, what do you reconcile, Gautama? Looking at the former limit of dharmas, from where do all afflictions arise? The Blessed One said: Having realized the former limit and the future limit, as well as what is happening now, and having realized supreme enlightenment, I teach the Dharma to living beings. The boy asked: You proclaim yourself as the perfect Buddha, and proclaim your own wisdom, by clinging to self in this way, you are excessively arrogant. The Blessed One said: I do not praise myself, nor do I despise others. I only show the reality as it is, therefore I am called the Tathāgata. The boy asked: The inexpressible Suchness, if there is no Suchness there, speaking of sound without sound, knowing but not speaking truthfully. The Blessed One said: All dharmas

Everything is reversed, arising from suchness. Because of realizing suchness, I have no faults and no merits. The boy reported: If it is the power of the Tathagata, then this courage arises in me, and I can answer such questions. I ask the perfectly enlightened Buddha for forgiveness. Then, the Bhagavan extended his golden right arm from within his Dharma robe and stretched it towards the boy. Then, that boy grabbed the finger of the Bhagavan's hand and stood up. Then, the Bhagavan took that boy from the empty house and placed him on the street. At that time, many people were thinking that even though this boy was troubled by afflictions in this way, it is amazing that he can answer such profound Dharma like this! They were amazed and prostrated to the Bhagavan. Then, the Bhagavan said to that boy: Boy, your karmic obscurations have been exhausted, remember your past roots of virtue, and also make the great assembly of people know, and show great miraculous displays! Then, that boy rose up from the ground to the height of seven men, and light emanated from his body. That light illuminated all of Shravasti and all of Jambudvipa, becoming very bright. That light also truly awakened Indra, Brahma, the world protectors, and many other hundreds and thousands of gods. In a moment, an instant, a short while, they went to where the Bhagavan was, and having arrived, they bowed their heads at the feet of the Bhagavan, offered heavenly flowers to the Bhagavan, and said: Bhagavan, the light of this Bodhisattva is inconceivable, and in this way, he has illuminated this Buddha land with light, and benefited countless sentient beings. They praised in this way. Therefore, that boy's name was named Light Immeasurable, Light Immeasurable. The Bhagavan also approved of that boy's name, saying: May this boy become Light Immeasurable. Then, the boy Light

The inconceivable descended from the sky and sat on the ground. That was due to the power of the Buddha and the roots of virtue from his own past. For example, it was like a friend of eight years old whose body was completely formed. Then, the lord of the gods, Indra, gave the boy a pair of divine cloths, saying: 'O boy, for the sake of love for me, wear this pair of cloths and do not sit naked.' Then, the boy Inconceivable Light spoke these words to the lord of the gods, Indra: 'Kauśika, bodhisattvas are not beautiful because they wear ornaments of clothing, but bodhisattvas are beautiful when they possess the ornaments of the Dharma. Kauśika, although that is so, listen to what are the ornaments of clothing of the bodhisattva mahāsattvas. The mind of enlightenment is the ornament of clothing of the bodhisattvas, and it will be adorned with the essence of enlightenment. The ornament of knowing shame and having embarrassment is the ornament of clothing of the bodhisattvas, and it will fully embrace all sentient beings. Relying on vows is the ornament of clothing of the bodhisattvas, and it will perfect wisdom. Intention is the ornament of clothing of the bodhisattvas, and it will eliminate deceit and trickery. Effort is the ornament of clothing of the bodhisattvas, and it will perfect all virtuous dharmas. Superior intention is the ornament of clothing of the bodhisattvas, and it will surpass all. Absence of pride is the ornament of clothing of the bodhisattvas, and it will perfect wisdom. Striving for the sake of the Dharma and desiring the Dharma are the ornaments of clothing of the bodhisattvas, and it will perfect wisdom. Not concealing the teacher's instructions is the ornament of clothing of the bodhisattvas, and it will perfect the wisdom without attachment. Completely giving away all wealth is the ornament of clothing of the bodhisattvas, and it will perfect the major and minor marks. Completely pure morality is of the bodhisattvas.'
