Furthermore, do not discuss the faults of others. For those that his wisdom cannot comprehend, for those the Tathagata is manifest. The boundless Bodhi spoken of by the Sugata, even the lords of wisdom of the Buddhas cannot know. If these four dharmas are understood, the supreme and excellent wisdom will not decline. If one abides in these dharmas, the Bodhi praised by the Buddhas will not be difficult to attain. O Sustainer of Light, these four are false Bodhicitta, which Bodhisattvas should completely abandon. What are the four? They are: doubt and hesitation towards the Buddhadharma, uncertainty; arrogance, pride, concealment, anger, and harmful thoughts towards sentient beings; jealousy and stinginess towards the gains of others; and uttering unpraiseworthy, unpleasant, and unspeakable words towards Bodhisattvas. O Sustainer of Light, these four are false Bodhicitta, which Bodhisattvas should completely abandon. Therefore, it should be said thus: towards the dharmas, doubt and hesitation arise; towards sentient beings, arrogance, pride, and anger are fostered; towards the gains of others, stinginess and jealousy are practiced; towards the Buddhas, not even a little faith arises. The unwise always speak unpraiseworthy, unspeakable, and unpleasant words to Bodhisattvas. The four false minds should be completely abandoned; Bodhisattvas should always rely on sentient beings. O Sustainer of Light, these four are the qualities of an upright Bodhisattva. What are the four? They are: not concealing the faults that have occurred, but truthfully confessing and analyzing them, and not arising from regret. Even if one loses the kingdom, loses wealth, or faces the danger of life because of that truthful word, one does not alter the truthful word, nor speak words that distort right and wrong. Towards all the harms done by others, such as slander, exposing shortcomings, insults, deception, threats, beatings, killings, and imprisonments, one considers them as faults of oneself, and relying on the ripening of karma, one does not quarrel with others, nor harbor resentment. He completely abides in faith.
