are also those very things. For example, if the poison Bangsānāva and the small drops of Hālāhala are eaten by the dragon kings Gāva and Nyega, etc., they will also die. Great Physician, what do you think? Which is more abundant among the poison of Gāva and Nyega, etc., and the drops of poison of Bangsānāva and Hālāhala? He replied: O Blessed One, I consider the poison of Gāva and Nyega to be the most abundant, while the poison of Bangsānāva and Hālāhala is just so. The Blessed One said: Great Physician, similarly, the realm of consciousness of those great bodies possessing the strength of nine thousand elephants should be regarded as small, unclear, and non-material. That consciousness, through the force of karma, causes the great body to be manifestly accomplished. For example, from a small seed of the Nyagrodha tree, a king of trees, tall and vast, with hundreds of thousands of branches and twigs, will be accomplished. Great Physician, what do you think? How large is the seed? How large is the tree? He replied: O Blessed One, the difference is great, like the inside of a mustard seed and space. The Blessed One said: Great Physician, similarly, the tree is not visible inside the seed, and without the seed, the growth of the tree is not seen. Just as a great tree grows from a tiny seed, so too, a great body will be accomplished from a tiny particle of consciousness. Consciousness is not visible in the body, and without consciousness, the growth of the body is not seen. Having said this, the Great Physician again said to the Blessed One: O Blessed One, how does the consciousness, which is like the essence of a vajra, cause the weak bodies to be manifestly accomplished? The Blessed One said: Great Physician, for example, if a poor person finds a wish-fulfilling jewel, he takes that wish-fulfilling jewel and conjures up the abodes of gods, pleasure gardens, vegetable gardens, fields, fences, gatehouses, trees, various vines surrounding them, and houses adorned with flowers, objects, and possessions.

All of these are impermanent, weak, and of a nature to quickly pass away and perish. If that wish-fulfilling jewel is lost from that person's hand, then those enjoyments of happiness will also disappear. Just as that wish-fulfilling jewel cannot be broken even by a thousand vajras, but its existing things are of a destructive nature, so the realm of consciousness is like the essence of vajra, while the body is without essence. Petitioner: Blessed One, how does the weak realm of consciousness separate the hard and solid form, thereby transferring and dying? The Blessed One said: Great Physician, for example, if a very gentle stream of water is in the mountains, and it pierces through that mountain and comes out, Great Physician, what do you think? Which is the hardest among them? Petitioner: Blessed One, the mountain is naturally hard and as stable and solid as a vajra, while water is naturally soft and comfortable to the touch. The Blessed One said: Similarly, consciousness is weak by nature, so it separates the great body and departs. Petitioner: Blessed One, how from Among sentient beings, how do sentient beings die and take rebirth in the heavens, and how do they completely take rebirth in the hells? The Blessed One said: Great Physician, listen carefully for that reason. If that sentient being dies and is completely seized by the actions that approach merit, having abandoned the body, that consciousness completely abandons the human view and obtains the view of the gods. With that view of the gods, if he wishes, he will see the gods of the six desire realms. He will also see the eight great hot hells. He will also see the abandonment of that body. He will also see the abodes of the gods of divine substances, the joyful gardens, the mixed gardens, the floral earrings, the trees Kusheshaya, Kokana, the immeasurable palaces, the dense groves, and the scenes surrounded by the play of heavenly daughters. He will also see the enjoyments of the gods, which are always blooming with flowers and beautifully decorated, and the beautiful ornaments decorated with pearls, the Sermo-do, the round rings, the flat rings, and the scenes decorated with armlets.
