And, when one has perfectly mastered it with wisdom, at that time, with the sword of wisdom of desire, cutting and thoroughly destroying all appearances of afflictions, together with wisdom, making the Buddha-field free from women and free from sexual intercourse, becoming extremely completely pure. When this story was being told, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva named Delight entered the great city of Shravasti for alms. When he was practicing alms in the great city of Shravasti, he went to the house of a merchant, and that merchant had a daughter named Excellent Fortune, who was still a young girl, living on the upper floor of the mansion. She heard the voice of that monk, and without receiving alms, she went to where the Bodhisattva Delight was. Then, as soon as the girl Excellent Fortune saw the Bodhisattva Delight, immediately with a mind completely entangled with desire, she grasped the characteristics of appearance, sound, and color from the example. Her mind completely entangled with desire, her mind completely aroused by desire, her mind completely compelled by desire, her mind completely tormented by desire, was burned, her body sweated, and standing, she reached the time of death. The Bodhisattva Delight also, seeing the girl Excellent Fortune, gave rise to the improper attention of conceptual thoughts, that is, a mind with desire arose, and after a moment, he had this thought: What is the dharma that one becomes attached to? Does the eye crave the eye? The eye is not the craver, because it is immovable, without an agent, without consciousness, compounded, seven-parted, a heap of flesh. The eye is empty of its own nature, therefore it does not intend, it does not feel. The ear, nose, tongue, body, mind, skin, color, and flesh are also the same. Therefore, if one examines separately from the soles of the feet up to the crown of the head, what dharma is there inside and outside that would become attached, hateful, or deluded?

Not observed. Because it was not observed, he became free from the mind of desire. Because he examined each dharma as it is with his mind, he realized that all dharmas are unborn, and therefore he would gain forbearance and attainment of the unborn dharma. With joy and supreme joy, he visibly rose into the sky above, as high as seven tala trees. Then, he circled the great city of Shravasti seven times, and from that very sky, he went to where Prince Jeta's Grove was, and where the Blessed One was. Second Chapter. The Blessed One saw the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Joyful Maker coming from the sky above like a king of geese, without obstruction. Having seen him, he said to the venerable Ananda: "Ananda, do you see the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Joyful Maker coming from the sky above like a king of geese, without obstruction?" Ananda replied: "Blessed One, I see him." The Blessed One said: "Ananda, this Bodhisattva Mahasattva Joyful Maker, relying on the mind of desire, has completely sought all dharmas, subdued the armies of Mara, and turned the wheel of Dharma exceedingly." Then, that excellent maiden of glory, at the time of her death, abandoned her female body, obtained a body born in the heavenly realm, and was born sharing the same fortune as the thirty-three gods. As soon as she was born, a palace made of the seven precious jewels, twelve yojanas in size, also appeared for her. Four hundred thousand daughters of the gods also dwelt near, serving and attending to her. Immediately, she thought, 'What deeds have I done and accumulated that I have been born here?' And she thought to herself, 'I was a merchant's daughter in the great city of Shravasti, and there I gazed upon the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Joyful Maker with a mind full of attachment. I died with a mind completely entangled by the desire for pleasure, and abandoned my female body. I have obtained a body born here, and I have also obtained such immeasurable wealth.'

Thinking thus, he also developed the wisdom to remember the karmic consequences of his past deeds. Then, the son of the gods thought to himself: 'If such a result can arise even from a mind of desire, then what need is there to mention the result of paying homage and serving the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Delightful with a mind of faith? It is not in accordance with my conduct, nor is it appropriate, for me to dwell delighting in desire, playing, enjoying pleasure, and abiding in heedlessness. I must certainly go to where the Blessed One is and where the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Delightful is.' Then, the son of the gods, together with five hundred attendants, carrying divine flowers, incense, garlands, and unguents, went to where the Blessed One and the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Delightful were. With a great radiance that was exceedingly sublime, he manifested the conduct of a victorious prince. He offered the divine flowers, incense, garlands, and unguents to the Blessed One, and bowed his head at the feet of the Blessed One. He also bowed his head at the feet of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Delightful, all the Bodhisattvas, and the Sangha of monks. Then, he circumambulated the Blessed One seven times. With his palms joined together before the Blessed One, at that time he spoke these verses: The Buddhas, supreme among humans, are inconceivable. Those who have entered the supreme Bodhi are inconceivable. The Dharma of the Sugatas is also inconceivable. The conduct of the great sages is also inconceivable. In Shravasti, I was once a girl, the daughter of a merchant, called Excellent Fortune. I was beautiful and wealthy from a young age. I was cherished and greatly loved, always in my parents' embrace. I never criticized the son of the Buddha, the great powerful one called Delightful. When he was practicing alms-begging and wandering in Shravasti, he came to my father's house. Having heard his sweet and pleasing voice, we took alms with our minds full of joy. Where is that son of the Thus-Gone One, the great powerful Delightful?
