Why does the Bodhisattva make beings fall asleep and then appear? It is because the beings are made to fall asleep by the gods, and the gods show faults everywhere. If the Bodhisattva's relatives and beings generate contempt and hatred, then for them, it will be meaningless, harmful, painful, and degenerate for a long time. Those beings are made to fall asleep by the gods, and the gods open the door and take them into the sky. If it is then known that the Bodhisattva is pleased, they will generate great joy towards the Bodhisattva. Because they see the benefit, they make beings fall asleep and then appear. This is also the Bodhisattva's skillful means. Why does the Bodhisattva return the horse and ornaments to the son of the Shakya clan? This is to show contentment everywhere. Others will say, the Bodhisattva renounced everything and became a renunciate, so he is not seeking gold and silver. Also, to make the Bodhisattva's future beings follow and learn. For example, whoever will become a renunciate in this teaching in the future should learn from my example, not considering all things, and rely on the four noble lineages to become a renunciate. A renunciate should not consider life from the very beginning, and should not become a renunciate. To show this reason, this is also the Bodhisattva's skillful means. Why does the Bodhisattva shave his own hair with a sword and become a renunciate? Son of good family, like this, who can overwhelm the Bodhisattva's splendor and majesty, and be able to endure shaving the hair, whether it be gods, dragons, yakshas, gandharvas, humans, or non-humans, there is not one in the three thousand great thousand world realms. Moreover, the Bodhisattva himself seeks renunciation, so he shows everywhere that he is a faithful believer. If he shaves his own hair and becomes a renunciate, the king

Oh, King Śuddhodana would also think, who shaved my son's hair, he should be beheaded! And be unhappy. In order to make King Śuddhodana hear that the Bodhisattva himself shaved his hair with a sword, and then say nothing. This is also the Bodhisattva's skillful means. Then, the Blessed One again said to the Bodhisattva Yeshe Dampa: Good son, listen again to why the Bodhisattva practiced asceticism for six years. Thus, the Bodhisattva is skillful in means, in order to make sentient beings disgusted and desirous of the actions of unwholesome deeds. Good son, thus, the Bodhisattva said in the sutras of the Tathagata, Arhat, Samyak-sambuddha Light Protection: Seeing the Shramana bald head, what use is it to me? Bodhi is extremely difficult to obtain, how can a bald-headed monk have Bodhi? Saying this, it should also be regarded as the Bodhisattva's skillful means and euphemistic language. Because of the karma obscuration, the Bodhisattva practiced asceticism for six years. Why did the Bodhisattva say that? Good son, at that time, in the sutras of the Tathagata, Arhat, Samyak-sambuddha Light Protection Buddha, the Brahmin boy Light Garland, had five sons like the Niwudangs Brahmin caste and huge Sala tree, who correctly entered the Bodhisattva's vehicle, they were controlled by evil friends, met with evil friends, and forgot the Bodhi mind. At that time, good son, those five sons became heretical ascetics, did not practice Buddhist asceticism, were diligent in heretical mantras, were not diligent in Buddhist mantras, believed in heretics, were influenced by heretics, and thought that we have Bodhi, and we are all Buddhas, thus claiming to be teachers. The Brahmin boy Light Garland recognized that those good sons were vessels, and skillfully became the Brahmin caste and Sala tree.

Like the five children who were like great trees, he wanted to gradually turn them away from the non-Buddhists, because he was skilled in this method, he said to the potter Bhumaka, "What use is it to me to see a shaven-headed ascetic? Enlightenment is extremely difficult to obtain, where would a shaven-headed ascetic have enlightenment?" At that time, that son of a noble family, the Brahmin boy Light Garland, was sitting in another place with the five children of the Brahmin caste who were like great Sala trees. Then, the potter Bhumaka went to that place, praising the Tathagata, Arhat, Samyak-sambuddha Light Protector, and after praising, he said to the Brahmin boy Light Garland, "Hey, Light Garland, come here, go to the presence of the Tathagata, Arhat, Samyak-sambuddha Light Protector." The son of a noble family, the Brahmin boy Light Garland thought, "Alas, these Brahmin boys, their roots of virtue have not yet matured, if I speak of the merits of the Tathagata, Arhat, Samyak-sambuddha Light Protector and enlightenment, and do not speak of the merits of the non-Buddhists, these sons of noble families will be completely suspicious, and will not go to the presence of the Tathagata, Arhat, Samyak-sambuddha Light Protector." The Brahmin boy Light Garland, in order to protect his previous vow, being skilled in the method of the cause of the Perfection of Wisdom, said these words, "What use is it to me to see a shaven-headed ascetic? Enlightenment is extremely difficult to obtain, where would a shaven-headed ascetic have enlightenment?" If asked: How is one skilled in the method of the cause of the Perfection of Wisdom? For a Bodhisattva who practices the Perfection of Wisdom, there is neither the perception of enlightenment, nor the perception of Buddha, nor does he truly see the Buddha who is called Buddha, nor does he truly see enlightenment, enlightenment is also within
