Thus he spoke: "Sons of good family, what do you expect to gain by asking such a question? This light has been completely purified by roots of virtue that are inconceivable, by collections of generosity that are inconceivable, by ethics, patience, diligence, meditative concentration, and wisdom. It is not the work of all the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas. If the Tathagata were to praise this light, the entire world with its gods would be bewildered by it. This light completely satisfies by completely nourishing with all love, compassion, joy, and equanimity. If one were to praise this light, it would not be easy to reach the end of praise even in an eon or more than an eon. Sons of good family, although that is so, listen well and keep it well in mind, and I will tell you. Those who attended upon those Buddhas, the Bhagavat, requested two or three times, saying: 'For the benefit of many beings, for the happiness of many beings, and for the sake of completely accomplishing the roots of virtue of the Bodhisattvas, may the Bhagavat speak.' After they had requested thus, those Buddhas, the Bhagavat, spoke thus to those who attended upon them: 'Sons of good family, there is a world-realm called 'Enduring'. Therein dwells the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Awakened Buddha called Shakyamuni, who is endowed with knowledge and good conduct, the Sugata, the Knower of the World, the unsurpassed Guide of beings to be trained, the Teacher of gods and humans, the Buddha, the Bhagavat. He dwells and abides in a world possessed of the five degenerations, where beings afflicted by desire, hatred, and delusion are disrespectful, their faculties are deranged, they are without shame or embarrassment, and they engage in the actions of defilement. For the sake of such beings, in a Buddha-field, he manifestly awakens to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, and teaches the Dharma. Sons of good family,'

諸位，世尊、如來、應供、正等覺釋迦牟尼佛的佛土，娑婆世界中，名為妙吉祥童子菩薩，具大威力，具大智慧，具大精進，能為菩薩們如實宣說，能使菩薩們如實受持，能使菩薩們如實讚歎，能使菩薩們如實歡喜，能開啟菩薩們的父親之位，能開啟菩薩們的母親之位，善於通達一切法之根本的智慧，已獲得無染的智慧波羅蜜多，具有無礙的辯才，不執著，具有不可思議的菩薩功德，他存在是為了：圓滿成辦眾生的善根，以及為了使菩薩乘的有情圓滿具足不可思議的佛法，因此向如來、應供、正等覺釋迦牟尼佛作了請法。諸位善男子，妙吉祥童子菩薩為了聚集從十方前來聽聞他宣說佛法的無量菩薩們，而放射此光芒。諸位善男子，此大光明在世間出現的原因和條件就是這個。如是說已，那些侍奉諸佛世尊的人們這樣稟告道：世尊，妙吉祥童子菩薩安住於何種三摩地而放射出如此的光芒？佛回答說：安住於普遍顯現無垢莊嚴三摩地。妙吉祥童子菩薩安住於此三摩地而放射出如此的光芒。稟告道：世尊，諸佛世尊是如此的明亮，如此的清淨，如此的身心歡喜，以及極度歡喜的此等光芒。

O noble ones, in the buddha-field of the Blessed One, the Tathāgata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Awakened One, Śākyamuni, in this Sahā world, there is a bodhisattva named Mañjuśrīkumārabhūta, who is of great power, of great knowledge, of great diligence, who truly teaches the bodhisattvas, who truly causes the bodhisattvas to hold, who truly praises the bodhisattvas, who truly delights the bodhisattvas, who opens the position of the fathers of the bodhisattvas, who opens the position of the mothers of the bodhisattvas, who is skilled in the knowledge that thoroughly distinguishes the basis of all dharmas, who has attained the perfection of wisdom that is without attachment, who is endowed with unobstructed eloquence, who is unapprehending, who possesses inconceivable qualities of a bodhisattva. He exists thus: in order to completely accomplish the roots of virtue of sentient beings, and in order to completely perfect the inconceivable buddha-dharmas of the individuals of the bodhisattva-vehicle, therefore, he requested the Dharma from the Tathāgata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Awakened One, Śākyamuni. O sons of good family, Mañjuśrīkumārabhūta emitted this light in order to gather the immeasurable bodhisattvas from the ten directions who would listen to and assemble to hear the Dharma taught by him. O sons of good family, that is the cause and condition for this great light to appear in the world. Having spoken thus, those who attended upon those Blessed Buddhas said this: Blessed One, abiding in which samādhi does the Bodhisattva Mañjuśrīkumārabhūta emit this light? He replied: He abides in the samādhi called 'Universally Manifesting Immaculate Array'. The Bodhisattva Mañjuśrīkumārabhūta abides in this samādhi and emits this light. They said: Blessed One, the Blessed Buddhas are so radiant, so pure, so joyful in body and mind, and this light is so supremely delightful.

Then, in the immeasurable, countless, inconceivable Buddha-fields of the ten directions, as many as the sands of the Ganges River, in each Buddha-field there are immeasurable, countless, inconceivable hundreds of thousands of millions of nayutas of Bodhisattvas, who go to those Buddhas, the Bhagavat, and bow their heads at the feet of those Buddhas, the Bhagavat, and to those Buddhas, the Bhagavat, they thus report: Bhagavat, this light, which has never been seen or heard before, and is endowed with many qualities, this appearance, this blazing, from where does it come, whose light is it? After thus reporting, those Buddhas, the Bhagavat, taught those Bodhisattvas thus: Sons of good families, there is a world called the Saha world, where the Bhagavat, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Samyaksambuddha Shakyamuni resides, lives, and teaches the Dharma. There, there is a Bodhisattva named Manjushri, the youthful one, who, in order to gather the Bodhisattvas of the ten directions, emits this blazing light. After thus teaching, those Bodhisattvas reported to those Buddhas, the Bhagavat, thus: Bhagavat, we, in order to behold the Bhagavat, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Samyaksambuddha Shakyamuni, to pay homage, to make offerings, to ask questions, to receive teachings, and to behold the Bodhisattva Manjushri, the youthful one, and the other Bodhisattvas, will go to the Saha world. He taught: Sons of good families, if you know that the time has come, go now! At that very moment, immeasurable, countless, inconceivable hundreds of thousands of millions of nayutas of Bodhisattvas from the ten directions, in an instant, a moment, a twinkling, just like this
