It is for the sake of teaching. Going is for the sake of making the vow firm. Coming is for the sake of causing the vow to fall into decay. The going of a Bodhisattva is for the sake of going to the essence of Bodhi. The coming of a Bodhisattva is for the sake of practicing the conduct of Bodhi. Son of the gods, this is the path of the Bodhisattvas, called going and coming. When this teaching was proclaimed, five hundred Bodhisattvas gained forbearance of the Dharma of non-origination. Then, the son of the gods, Auspicious Glory, said to Manjushri, who had become a youth: Manjushri, I have heard of a world called "Light of All Qualities," Manjushri, in which direction is that world of Light of All Qualities? What is the name of the Tathagata who teaches the Dharma there? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, in the upward direction, beyond twelve times the sands of the Ganges River of Buddha-fields from this Buddha-field, there is a world called "Light of All Qualities." There, the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Awakened One, named Samantabhadra, teaches the Dharma. He said: Manjushri, I wish to behold that world of Light of All Qualities, and the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Awakened One, Samantabhadra. Then, Manjushri, who had become a youth, at that time entered into the Samadhi called "Immaculate Light." As soon as Manjushri, who had become a youth, entered into Samadhi, a light corresponding to it arose from his body. That light illuminated twelve times the sands of the Ganges River of Buddha-fields, and also pervaded that world of Light of All Qualities with great light. Then, in the Buddha-field of the Bhagavan Tathagata Samantabhadra, those Bodhisattvas who were born saw that light and were amazed. They joined their palms and asked the Bhagavan: Bhagavan, from where does this light, which is so pure, come? The Bhagavan said: Sons of noble family, in the downward direction, from this Buddha-field
