They dwell in places of discord. These are the basis for generating perversions, indulging in desires increases craving, there is no happiness. Various delusions, extreme delusions, likewise, complete delusions. Indulging in desires always torments and is harmful, this is all suffering, various sufferings, complete suffering. Associating with evil and causing virtue to be in vain, this is the root of all non-virtue. Indulging in desires is like a net of clouds. Indulging in desires is like a flesh-eating woman, a rakshasa woman, and associating with an ugly woman. Cows, donkeys, horses, pigs, dogs, foxes, peacocks, elephants, sheep, etc., also indulge in desires, desires that are abandoned by noble beings. Indulging in desires destroys discipline, listening, generosity, and asceticism, brahmacharya, therefore, ignorance and faults always increase. Therefore, those who desire liberation should always avoid women. Even if this world were filled with radiant women like you, even if my heart were filled with merit, I would never rely on desire in the slightest. Then, the daughters of the Asuras, such as Delight, and the daughters of the gods, Sunlight, went to Indra, the lord of the gods, and spoke in verses: Indeed, here, there are no faults of women, because those faults are difficult to see. Just as his mind is liberated from objects, likewise, his mind has no attachment to desires. Then, Indra, the lord of the gods, went to the field of the poor Determiner in the city and spoke in verses: Determiner, what do you seek, practicing the Dharma, practicing brahmacharya, please speak truthfully. What do you ask for from the sun, moon, or Indra, or Brahma, or the king of the gods? The Determiner said: The sun, moon, as well as Indra and Brahma, or the king, or all the others here, all the vast beings, are impermanent and unstable like dancing, who among the wise would rejoice in this? For that which has no birth, no old age, no death, no encounter with suffering and displeasure, in order to become a Buddha who liberates beings, in order to attain that state, my mind is determined. Indra said: Benefactor, I rejoice in your words, you have made a vow.

May all be auspiciously accomplished! May we swiftly and surely conquer all demons and their armies, and attain enlightenment like the Shakya Lion King! Then, a city pauper named Ngepa (ངེས་པ།, Certainty) found a priceless jewel one day and thought, "This jewel, which is the best in all of Jambudvipa, I must give it to the poorest person in Jeta Grove (མཉན་ཡོད།, Shravasti)." So he went into the city and proclaimed, "I will give this jewel to the poorest of all!" Many poor and helpless people gathered there, clamoring, "We are poor, please give it to us!" Ngepa (ངེས་པ།, Certainty) said, "You are not poor, there is another who is much poorer in Jeta Grove (མཉན་ཡོད།, Shravasti), I will give it to him." They asked, "Who is it?" Ngepa (ངེས་པ།, Certainty) said, "It is King Salgyal (གསལ་རྒྱལ།, Prasenajit)." They said, "Do not say that! King Salgyal (གསལ་རྒྱལ།, Prasenajit) is rich, wealthy, and enjoys great possessions, while we are poor and helpless." Ngepa (ངེས་པ།, Certainty) said, "What good is much wealth? Like the Nagas in the ocean. Those who are never content, Unsubdued, they are the poor. Those whose desires greatly increase, And whose minds constantly arise, Those fools, in this life and, In the next, will also become poor." Then, the city pauper named Ngepa (ངེས་པ།, Certainty), surrounded by many people, took the jewel and went to the Sagalawa (ས་ག་ལ་བ།) place where King Salgyal (གསལ་རྒྱལ།, Prasenajit) conducted his affairs. At that time, King Salgyal (གསལ་རྒྱལ།, Prasenajit) had also seized all the possessions of about five hundred merchants and wealthy householders of good standing for a minor offense. The city pauper named Ngepa (ངེས་པ།, Certainty) presented the jewel to the king and said, "Great King, I have found a priceless jewel that illuminates all of Jambudvipa, and I thought, 'I will give it to the poorest person in Jeta Grove (མཉན་ཡོད།, Shravasti).' Therefore, I thought, 'You are the poorest of all here,' so please accept this jewel."
