And also cause various things to be done, and on cloth handicrafts and silk, and on the walls of houses, also cause them to be smeared in order. At that time, a monk skillfully and very realistically painted an image of the Thus-Gone One on silk, and then took it to the palace of the father of the Bodhisattva Great Exertion. O Kasyapa, then the Bodhisattva Great Exertion, having seen that image of the Thus-Gone One, thought to himself: 'Even this image of the Thus-Gone One is so pleasing to behold, what need is there to mention the Thus-Gone One, the Arhat, the Perfectly Awakened One? Even if I were to have such a body, what could be wrong?' And he generated joy, supreme joy, and faith. At that time, he became manifestly displeased with all households, and he thought to himself: 'Living in a household cannot accomplish such a body, therefore I should go forth.' O Kasyapa, then the Bodhisattva Great Exertion, having been born, when he was sixteen years old, and his faculties had grown and were fully matured, he went to where his parents were, and having gone, he prostrated to the feet of his two parents, and said: 'Father and mother, would you allow me to go forth from home to homelessness in the Thus-Gone One's teachings, simply to go forth?' The parents said: 'Young man, do not say such a thing. Why? Because for us two, there is no son more unique, lovable, precious, and agreeable than you, and if we do not see you, we will face death.' The boy said: 'In any case, I will not disappoint you two, and I will also go forth, I will do that.' The parents said: 'Young man, what should be done?' The boy said: 'From today onwards, until I go forth, I will not seek food, nor will I go to bed, nor will I anoint myself with butter and sesame oil, nor will I seek drink, nor will I speak any words, good or bad.' O Kasyapa, then the Bodhisattva Great Exertion in a place that had not been cleaned...

Then, placing the Great Courageous Perseverance before him, holding food with a hundred flavors, not letting him speak other words, day and night continuously entreating, saying to him: Young man, get up and eat food! Stay in this house, and please give alms, and please do good deeds, and together with these women enjoy happiness, play, and joy, and do not completely abandon such a royal palace! Light Guardian, the Bodhisattva Great Courageous Perseverance, to the multitude of people gathered in such a way, did not even look with his eyes, nor did he speak, and thus sat without saying a word, and for six days did not even eat food, and apart from the mental engagement related to the Buddha and the sacred objects, he had cut off all other mental engagements, and did not even generate the thought of food. Light Guardian, then the parents of the Bodhisattva Great Courageous Perseverance, and those many people, those maidservants, those many relatives, and all those eighty-four thousand women, all with tears streaming down their faces, uttering cries, in a pleading manner, touched the two feet of the Bodhisattva, but he did not even look at their faces. Light Guardian, then a deity who resided in that royal palace, sitting in the sky above with great miraculous power, spoke in verses to those many people: Those who strive for enlightenment, They are like Mount Sumeru. Their strength is firm, utterly unshakeable, They will not fail to be attentive. Even if all the earth were to move, And fire were to turn into water, Friends, this one from this place, Cannot be moved. Do not be displeased with him, do not leave later, Do not do sinful deeds. From now on, like the blind, One will wander for millions of kalpas. This one, for the benefit of all beings, Has entered into enlightenment. Those who strive for manifestation, Attaining supreme enlightenment is not difficult. Not for desire and enjoyment, Does one not practice the conduct of enlightenment, Which beings are the Buddhas', How do seekers of wisdom act? Three thousand worlds of jewels
