are the conduct of Bodhisattvas. The conduct of wisdom and means by gathering and completely cutting off is the conduct of Bodhisattvas. When this teaching of the conduct of Bodhisattvas was taught, five hundred Bodhisattvas who had entered into conduct obtained forbearance of the unborn Dharma. Then the son of the gods, the merchant leader, said to Manjushri, who had become a youth: Manjushri, you have spoken well of the conduct of the Bodhisattvas. Those Bodhisattvas who are not separated from that conduct are those who have been prophesied by him. The Blessed One said: Son of the gods, it is so. It is as you have said. Son of the gods, when I was not separated from that conduct, the Tathagata Dipamkara prophesied that I would attain unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. There, I obtained forbearance of the unborn Dharma. Son of the gods, for those Dharma characteristics of completely pure conduct, to be able to fully distinguish such conduct of the Bodhisattvas is also a great miracle of the Tathagata. Then the son of the gods, the merchant leader, said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, what is meant by "unborn"? By what means does a Bodhisattva obtain forbearance of the unborn Dharma? The Blessed One said: Son of the gods, the term "unborn" refers to the supreme term of the characteristic of emptiness, which has not been born from the very beginning. It is not that it existed before and then did not exist, but it is the very nature of having existed from the very beginning. It is not that it existed before and then did not exist, but it is the very nature of not existing from the very beginning. It is not that it was born before and then was not born, but it is the very nature of not being born from the very beginning. It is not that it was manifestly assembled before and then was not manifestly assembled, but it is the very nature of not being assembled from the very beginning. It is not that it came before and then disappeared, but it is the very nature of not changing from the very beginning. It is not that it was previously counted as a person and then

It is not that it is not counted as a person, but that it is emptiness from the very beginning. It is not that it was previously counted as a sign and later not counted as a sign, but that it is signlessness from the very beginning. Whoever thus truly understands, and with the mind understands that there is no manifestation of arising and ceasing, that is called non-arising. What is forbearance? Just as they do not arise, so too forbearance towards all sentient beings is called forbearance. Just as they do not arise, so too forbearance towards all fields is called forbearance. Just as they do not arise, so too forbearance towards all learners, non-learners, and solitary Buddhas is called forbearance. Just as they do not arise, so too forbearance towards all the Buddha's teachings, all the practices of Bodhisattvas, and all the Buddhas is called forbearance. Just as they do not arise, so too forbearance towards all dharmas is called forbearance. This forbearance is also momentary. What is momentary? It is momentary by its very momentariness. Emptiness is momentary by its very emptiness. Signlessness is momentary by its very signlessness. Just as emptiness and the emptiness of signlessness, and signlessness are momentary, so too form is momentary by the nature of form. Just as emptiness and the emptiness of signlessness, and signlessness are momentary, so too feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness are momentary by the nature of consciousness. Just as emptiness and the emptiness of signlessness, and signlessness are momentary, so too the realm of all dharmas is momentary by the nature of the realm. Just as emptiness and the emptiness of signlessness, and signlessness are momentary, so too all the sense bases are momentary by the nature of the sense bases. What is momentary is Yama-bṛla. What is Yama-bṛla is accumulation. What is accumulation is emptiness.
