Whatever is forbearance is without attachment. Whatever is without attachment is free from attachment. Whatever is free from attachment is without inherent existence. Whatever is without inherent existence is without substance, that is, all phenomena are emptiness, momentary, impermanent, peaceful, and accumulative. Whatever is patient with all phenomena in this way is called patience. That patience is also momentary by its very nature of patience. Thus, a Bodhisattva who has attained equality is predicted and attains forbearance of the unborn dharma. That patience is also not well distinguished by the object of focus. What is the object of focus in that? When one focuses on both self and patience, that is called the object of focus. Focusing on both sentient beings, life, nourishment, individuals, and patience is called the object of focus. What is without an object of focus in that? When one does not focus on both self and patience, that is called without an object of focus. Not focusing on both sentient beings, life, nourishment, individuals, and patience is called without an object of focus. Similarly, whatever is the nature of all the phenomena of aggregates, elements, and sense bases is the complete absence of inherent existence. Whatever is the complete absence of inherent existence is the unconditioned. Not engaging in dualistic conceptualization of that inherent existence and that patience is called without an object of focus. Son of the gods, the practice of a Bodhisattva who possesses such patience for countless eons is also a manifestation of the great miracle of the Tathagata. When this manifestation of patience was taught, this three-thousandfold great thousandfold world realm shook in six ways. This world was also pervaded by great light. Hundreds of thousands of musical instruments sounded without being played. Showers of flowers also fell. Forty-two thousand sentient beings generated the mind of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Ninety-six thousand Bodhisattvas attained forbearance in accordance with the dharmas.

In this Saha world, just as the Tathagata Dipankara Raja entered the palace with pavilions, it also appeared completely. Then, at that time, the Bhagavan smiled. When the Buddhas, the Bhagavans, smile, countless colors, various colors, and hundreds of thousands of colors emanate from the face of the Bhagavan, such as blue, yellow, red, white, madder, crystal, and silver. These rays illuminated the boundless and limitless realms of the world, rising manifestly up to the world of Brahma. The light of the sun and moon was also subdued, and then they returned, circumambulating the Bhagavan three times, and then disappeared into the crown of the Bhagavan's head. Then, the venerable Ananda rose from his seat, draped his robe over one shoulder, knelt on his right knee, and bowed with folded hands towards the Bhagavan. At that time, he asked the Bhagavan directly with verses that were clear and appropriate: Why does the Muni smile? I ask you, who possess incomparable splendor. I ask you, who create light. I ask you, who dispel darkness and afflictions. Why does the Sugata reveal a smile? I ask you, who destroy the assemblies of others. I ask you, who defeat the armies of Mara. I ask you, who possess the power of the ten strengths. Why does the Victorious One reveal a smile? Adorned with the thirty-two marks of excellence. The Sugata brings great joy and happiness. I ask you, who possess the most excellent form. Why does the Bhagavan reveal a smile? I ask you, who demonstrate boundless wisdom and qualities. The source of wisdom, who knows beings. I ask you, the tree of wisdom, who knows all. Famous in the three realms, with boundless fame. Who precedes the three knowledges and the three stains. Having mastered the three realms, having reached the other shore of the three liberations. Why do you reveal a smile? The supreme physician, who ends birth and old age. The Bhagavan has a supreme net-like wheel on his feet. The son without craving, the vajra-firm one. Muni, please explain the reason for your smile. By what cause

Is this conduct for purification? Have all the patience here been perfected? Has this mind become certain of attaining the qualities of the Buddha? For what reason did the Great Hero smile? O Tathagata, unparalleled, if there is no cause, the Blessed One, the guide, does not easily show a smile. Hearing this, may the beings' hearts rejoice. Please, with the voice of Brahma, speak and reveal the excellent sound. After asking in this way, the Blessed One said to the venerable Ananda: Ananda, when this Dharma discourse was spoken, forty-two thousand beings generated the mind for unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Ninety-six thousand Bodhisattvas obtained the patience of non-arising Dharma. Ananda, have you seen that son of the gods, the merchant leader? Answer: Blessed One, I have seen him. The Blessed One said: Ananda, this son of the gods, the merchant leader, has shown respect, reverence, offerings, worship, requests, and inquiries to the Tathagatas who have passed beyond counting, and has also caused countless beings to abide in unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Ananda, this son of the gods, the merchant leader, after three hundred countless kalpas, in a kalpa called Immaculate, in a world called Completely Pure World, will awaken to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, becoming the Tathagata, Arhat, Samyaksambuddha, complete in knowledge and conduct, Sugata, knower of the world, unsurpassed guide of beings to be tamed, teacher of gods and humans, Buddha, Blessed One, named King of Qualities Light, will appear in the world. Ananda, that Completely Pure World is made of the seven precious substances, namely gold, silver, lapis lazuli, crystal, essence of jewels, conch shell, and red pearls, and is as flat as the palm of the hand, covered all over like a chessboard with various networks of precious jewels. In that world, there is no name for Shravakas or Pratyekabuddhas.
