Furthermore, if one sees a faithful assembly, remembering the mind of enlightenment is taking refuge in the Sangha. Householder, also a Bodhisattva at home, residing in the home, wishing to be with the Buddha, giving alms, is taking refuge in the Buddha. Giving alms to protect the true Dharma is taking refuge in the Dharma. Dedicating this alms to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment is taking refuge in the Sangha. Householder, also a Bodhisattva at home, residing in the home, performs virtuous deeds and does not perform evil deeds. Householder, what are virtuous deeds, and what are not evil deeds? Householder, here, a Bodhisattva at home seeks enjoyment through the Dharma and does not seek it through non-Dharma. He seeks through harmony and not through disharmony. He lives by right livelihood and not by wrong livelihood. He does not harm others with the Dharma enjoyment he has obtained, and he cultivates the thought of impermanence and takes its essence. Thus, he reveres and honors his parents, and his children, wife, servants, maids, employees, and laborers enjoy it properly. He respects friends, ministers, and relatives, and leads them into the Dharma, increasing generosity. Householder, also a Bodhisattva at home, like this, to bear the burden of the five aggregates of all beings, he strives to honor the assumption of this burden. He is not weary of fully maturing beings, he is not attached to his own happiness, and he makes all beings attain happiness. He is not moved by gain and loss, fame and infamy, praise and blame, happiness and suffering, and he truly transcends the ways of the world. He is not arrogant with the abundance of wealth and enjoyment, and he does not rely on gain, fame, and pleasant words. He cuts off laziness, diligently observes and acts, protects right conduct, and does not believe in wrong conduct.
