Ma. Enduring and practicing patience, one abides on the path to enlightenment. Curses and suffering, these things, are not done by others, but are definitely the result of karma. Even if a long time passes, it will not be wasted. Sentient beings abiding in the world constantly create good and bad karma. Even though I am experiencing this suffering now, I know well that it is the result of karma. If one does evil deeds, one will surely experience suffering in the future. Why would one want to harm them with evil things? Seeking the unsurpassed Dharma and teaching it to others, one liberates sentient beings from all suffering. If someone offers flowers and incense, garlands, and I offer myself to myself, without generating attachment, I should practice equanimity in meditation. Loving-kindness and hatred are not the path, so one should always practice equanimity. Who gives and who receives? One should truly contemplate all dharmas. If giving is done with emptiness and receiving is done with emptiness, and both inside and outside are emptiness, then since there is no giving and receiving in emptiness, all things are without self. In emptiness, there is no freedom from desire. In emptiness, there are no afflictions. Since there is no purification either, emptiness is stainless and pure. In emptiness, there is no conceptualization. In emptiness, there are no essences. Emptiness is always empty and without characteristics. That is not purity. If someone comes and cuts my body into pieces, with the wisdom arising from karmic causes, I will not generate hatred towards them. Since sentient beings create good and bad, they take the fruit according to their karma. I must also be experiencing this painful ripening of previous sins. Even though I am experiencing this ripening of sins, I examine the body as an image, a water bubble, an illusion, an emanation, a mirage, empty and without substance, and ultimately empty. Some cut off my limbs, some remember my kindness, and even if they make offerings to me, I will not be happy or unhappy. Even if I gain profit, I am not happy. Even if someone speaks badly, I am not angry. Since these two are obscurations, they are not the path to perfect enlightenment. The mind of desire, hatred, and ignorance, one should abandon all of these. By constantly meditating on emptiness and solitude, one abandons all obscurations. Patience.

Power is the basis of the ten powers, the Buddhas are the abode of miracles, the root of unobstructed wisdom and compassion is patience. The four truths, mindfulness, and right abandonment, the powers, the path of enlightenment, all are based on patience, which wise person would not cultivate patience? I (the Buddha) also turned the unsurpassed wheel of Dharma in Varanasi, which was also based on patience, so the Buddhas always praise patience. If you also cultivate emptiness and patience as the unsurpassed foundation, this is the Dharma nature of Dharma, and you will attain the merits of the Buddha. Furthermore, noble son, Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas abandon the five desires, constantly delight in renunciation, and follow renunciation with their minds. They are devoted to renunciation and do not become attached to the five desires. Having renounced, they also abandon distractions and dwell in remote mountains and forests, not wasting virtuous Dharma. If a Bodhisattva possesses these two Dharmas, they will attain all perfect qualities. Then, at that time, the Bhagavan spoke in verses: Constantly delighting in renunciation, one will constantly renounce. Delighting in dwelling in mountains and forests, one will increase the source of qualities. Relying on dwelling in solitude, one will completely abandon attachment to the five desires. Because there is no distraction, the conditions for virtuous Dharma will not decline. Not subduing each other, asking questions, or speaking with words, emptiness, tranquility, and solitude are praised by the Buddhas. Therefore, Bodhisattvas should always rely on solitude and not be attached to cities, for if they are attached, the mind of gain will arise. If they gain, they will be very happy, and if they lose, they will be sad. Even if they offer to the Buddha in that way, it will not be called an offering. If you want to abandon such faults, you should abandon gains. Having abandoned them, starting from a solitary place, cultivate the Dharma of emptiness. Furthermore, noble son, Bodhisattvas constantly study and seek the Dharma, and after completely seeking it, they read and recite.
