Moreover, one will engage in the behaviors of the Lord of Death's world. Therefore, one should know through those behaviors that one has died and been reborn from the Lord of Death's world. In order to completely transcend those behaviors, one should seek a virtuous friend. Therefore, those virtuous friends will teach giving in order to abandon miserliness. Thus, one will also abandon the latent tendencies of miserliness. Or, they will teach him the dharmas of the aspects of enlightenment that possess giving. They will teach the perfection of giving. By meditating on it, the six perfections will be completely fulfilled. Wanderers, for a person who has died and been reborn from the Asuras, when he was previously born as a human, he also manifestly accumulated great roots of virtue, but he also completely relied on pride. Therefore, he did, accumulated, completed, perfected, and obtained deeds with pride. Therefore, he was born as an Asura. Dwelling among the Asuras, he became a person with Asura-like behavior. Therefore, when he dies from the Asuras and is reborn as a human, he will still engage in those Asura-like behaviors. Therefore, one should know through those behaviors that one has died and been reborn from the Asuras. In order to completely transcend those behaviors, one should seek a virtuous friend. Therefore, those virtuous friends will teach the aggregates in order to abandon pride and to destroy the pride of thinking "I am." Thus, one will also abandon his pride. Or, teaching him the emptiness of dharmas, thus one will abandon the latent tendencies of his pride, and I will be completely destroyed. Or, teaching how to transform actions into the way they arise from gathering, thus one will abandon the latent tendencies of his pride. Or, teaching him the single characteristic of dharmas, thus his perfection of wisdom will be completely fulfilled, and by meditating on it, he will accomplish omniscience. Wanderers, for a person who has died and been reborn from humans, when he was previously born as a human, he also completely taught, practiced, and increased the ten paths of virtuous action. Therefore, from that

Having done, accumulated, mastered, perfected, and obtained, one is born as a human. He dwells among humans, and thus becomes a performer of human actions. He dies from among humans and is born among humans, and will still practice those human actions. He should know himself that through those actions, he has died from among humans, and in order to completely transcend those human actions, he should seek a virtuous friend. Those virtuous friends will teach him the concept of impermanence. He will also practice those actions along with the latent habits. Or, they will show him the disadvantages of samsara and the advantages of nirvana, so he will dislike samsara and pursue nirvana. Or, they will show him the six perfections, and upon hearing these, he will generate the mind of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. They will also show him skillful means. Therefore, he will be very attached to those six perfections and quickly attain omniscience. For those who wander around, for a person who has died from the heavens, if he was previously a human, he was very attached to pure conduct and practiced it, very attached to giving and gave, very attached to discipline and guarded it, so he did, accumulated, mastered, perfected, and obtained, and was born in the heavens. He dwells in the heavens, and thus becomes a performer of divine actions. He dies from the heavens and is born among humans, and will still practice those divine actions. He should know himself that through those actions, he has died from the heavens, and in order to completely transcend those actions, he should seek a virtuous friend. Those virtuous friends will point out the faults of being attached to pure conduct and praise the virtues of not dwelling in pure conduct. They will condemn being attached to giving and praise not being attached to giving. They will curse being attached to discipline and praise not being attached to discipline. He will therefore abandon his discipline and asceticism.

The latent habit of considering attachment as supreme will also be abandoned. Or, explain to him the perfection of discipline; by meditating on it, the six perfections will be completely fulfilled. Also, explain skillful means to him. Possessing these, one will surely and quickly attain omniscience. Wanderers, for a person who has died and been reborn from the hell realms, one should rely on a virtuous friend and listen to the equality of the three times. Having heard it, one should also abide mostly in it. In villages, cities, towns, regions, districts, and around the palaces of kings, one should abide in places where there are monks, nuns, laymen, and the fourfold assembly, and associate with them. By doing this, following the path that has become familiar, all phenomena are of the nature of non-substantiality, thus the equality of the three times will be manifested. Wanderers, for a person who has died and been reborn from the animal realm, one should rely on a virtuous friend, and to counteract ignorance, one should joyfully abide together with people who are skilled in treatises. He will abandon his ignorance, and he should truly examine those who understand the treatises. Therefore, for him, the treatises and those who understand the treatises will also appear as without self-nature, thus he will realize the equality of the three times and will surely and quickly attain omniscience. Wanderers, for a person who has died and been reborn from the realm of Yama, one should rely on a virtuous friend who can cause him to generate the mind of generosity, who can reveal to him the equality of the three times, and who can reveal this signlessness as the one sign, and by meditating on it, one will surely and quickly attain omniscience. One should rely on qualities. Chapter Twelve Wanderers, for a person who has died and been reborn from the Asura realm, one should rely on a virtuous friend and fight against the afflictive demons. For example, what is the dharma called pride? By what is it completely grasped? For whom does it completely arise?
