Is it like this? Is it understood like this? Those monks said: Venerable, the mind is not corporeal, invisible, without manifestation, without obstruction, without location, and not discernible. Then, the emanation monk said to those monks: Venerable ones, a mind that is not corporeal, invisible, without manifestation, without obstruction, without location, and not discernible, does it reside within? Or does it reside outside? Or does it reside between the two, do you think there is such a thing? They said: No. He said: Venerable ones, if the mind is not corporeal, invisible, without manifestation, without obstruction, without location, and not discernible, neither within, nor without, nor between the two, then do you think it has a real accomplishment? They said: No. He said: Venerable ones, for anything that is not real and not accomplished, do you think there will be liberation? They said: No. He said: Venerable ones, thinking about this, Manjushri Kumara once taught: The nature of the Dharmadhatu has neither complete defilement nor complete purification. Venerable ones, for those ordinary people who are deluded by perversion, there arises the grasping of self and the grasping of what belongs to self. Abiding in the grasping of self and the grasping of what belongs to self, constantly enjoying the objects, for those people, there arises the mind born from the object; if the object is blue, the mind becomes blue, and having arisen, it decays, dissolves, and has no abiding. The object of the mind, by what is it enhanced and perfected, becoming the requisites of a monk, and the mind that meditates on the path, its nature is non-existent, unreal, and not arisen. Whatever is non-existent, unreal, and not arisen, there is no birth, no destruction, and no abiding. Whatever has no birth, no destruction, and no abiding, there is no bondage and no liberation. For it, there is no attainment and no manifestation.

nor is there realization. Venerable ones, from then on, the monk who had become Mañjuśrīkumārabhūta spoke thus: the nature of the dharmadhātu is neither completely defiled nor completely purified, because for this, no one has attained, no one has realized, no one has been liberated. After saying this, when the emanation monk expounded this teaching, those monks, without grasping, their minds were liberated from the outflows. After their minds were liberated, they went to where the emanation had become Mañjuśrīkumārabhūta, and covered the emanation who had become Mañjuśrīkumārabhūta with their respective upper garments, and also spoke these words: Mañjuśrī, you have completely protected us. In this way, we have not fallen into abandoning the true Dharma, and from then on, we have entered the profound Dharma-Vinaya, and are no longer outsiders. Then, the venerable Subhūti said to those monks: Venerable ones, what have you attained and what have you realized that you cover the emanation who has become Mañjuśrīkumārabhūta with your respective upper garments? They said: Venerable Subhūti, we have neither attained anything nor realized anything, therefore we cover the emanation who has become Mañjuśrīkumārabhūta with our respective upper garments. Venerable Subhūti, when we have the idea of attainment, we stand up from our seats, wander around, and then leave. When we are free from the idea of attainment, we return again. Subhūti said: Venerable ones, what do you think that you speak in this way? They said: Venerable Subhūti, what is called attainment is wavering, it is pride. For those who have wavering and pride, there is neither attainment nor realization. Venerable Subhūti, for those who have neither attainment nor realization, it is the complete destruction of all pride. The venerable Subhūti said: Venerable ones, by whom have you been tamed? They said: Venerable Subhūti, who has not attained, has not realized, who has not been born, is completely extinguished.

Without transcending evil deeds, without abiding equally, and without mental distraction, he has thoroughly tamed them. Said: Venerable ones, were you tamed? They said: Ask the youthful Manjushri. Then, the Venerable Ananda said this to the youthful Manjushri: Manjushri, who tamed those monks? Manjushri said: Venerable Ananda, for whom the aggregates do not exist, the elements do not exist, the sources do not exist, who is not a common being, not a learner, not a non-learner, not a Shravaka, not a Bodhisattva, not a Tathagata, who is not endowed with a body, not endowed with purity, not endowed with consciousness, not endowed with sameness, not separated, by him they are tamed. Said: Manjushri, who is the teacher of that? Manjushri said: Venerable Ananda, what do you think? If the Tathagata emanates an emanation, do you think that is endowed with sameness? Said: Manjushri, that is neither truly endowed with any Dharma, nor is it separated. Manjushri said: Venerable Ananda, are all Dharmas of the nature of illusion? Said: Manjushri, it is so. Manjushri said: Venerable Ananda, these monks are tamed by illusion, just as the taming of illusion is, so is the taming of all Shravakas. Venerable Ananda, those who are tamed in this way are truly tamed. Those who do not believe in this Dharma and discipline should be known as having excessive pride. Then, the Venerable Ananda said this to the youthful Manjushri: Manjushri, how is a monk known to have excessive pride? Manjushri said: Venerable Ananda, here, a monk who prides himself on the complete purity of the aggregate of morality, should be known as having excessive pride. Samadhi, wisdom, liberation, and the aggregate of the vision of the wisdom of liberation, completely pure, and he prides himself on being completely pure, this is having excessive
