When the Buddha Akshobhya of the earth attained the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment, and gained the wisdom of knowing all aspects, the light of the body of the Blessed One, the Thus-Gone One, the Foe Destroyer, the Perfectly Complete Buddha Akshobhya, subdued the light of the sun and moon, making them dim and invisible. Furthermore, the light of the Thus-Gone One, the Foe Destroyer, the Perfectly Complete Buddha Akshobhya, pervaded the entire realm of the three-thousand great-thousand world system with great illumination. Sharadvatiputra, moreover, the light of the Blessed One, the Thus-Gone One, the Foe Destroyer, the Perfectly Complete Buddha Akshobhya, also subdued the light of the sun and moon, and the light of all the gods in that three-thousand great-thousand world system, making them dim and invisible even to the eye. Sharadvatiputra, this is because of the special aspiration of the Blessed One, the Thus-Gone One, the Foe Destroyer, the Perfectly Complete Buddha Akshobhya, when he practiced the conduct of a Bodhisattva in the past. After he spoke thus, the venerable Sharadvatiputra said this to the Blessed One: Venerable Blessed One, how amazing, Blessed One! How much great armor did the Thus-Gone One, the Foe Destroyer, the Perfectly Complete Buddha Akshobhya, wear when he practiced the conduct of a Bodhisattva in the past, and how vast were the special aspirations of that kind? When he practiced the conduct of a Bodhisattva in the past, he established countless hundreds of thousands of beings, countless thousands of beings, countless hundreds of thousands of beings, countless billions of trillions of hundreds of thousands of beings, inconceivable, countless, unspeakable, and unspeakable beyond unspeakable beings in the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment, and he completely dedicated all the roots of virtue that arose from generating the mind of enlightenment to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment for the sake of purifying the Buddha-field, how, how completely.

Furthermore, one obtains the samadhi called mindfulness of the mind free from desire. Sharadvatiputra, listen well and thoroughly to the qualities and array of the Buddha-field of the Tathagata, Arhat, Samyak-sambuddha, Akshobhya, and keep them in mind properly, and I will tell you about them. The venerable Sharadvatiputra said to the Bhagavan, "Very well," and listened to the Bhagavan. The Bhagavan said to him, "Sharadvatiputra, furthermore, in the Buddha-field of the Tathagata, Arhat, Samyak-sambuddha, Akshobhya, there are no three lower realms. Which three? Namely, the hell beings, the animal realm, and the realm of Yama. All beings born there possess the ten paths of virtuous action. Sharadvatiputra, also in that Buddha-field, there is no distinction among beings such as master or servant. Sharadvatiputra, the people of that Buddha-field do not have the thought of eagerly employing others. Why is that? Sharadvatiputra, because the beings in that Buddha-field have no grasping of self and what belongs to self. Sharadvatiputra, also, all the great earth of that Buddha-field is as level as the palm of the hand, pleasant to the touch like kacalindika, appearing like the color of gold, adorned with divine jewels, and well-decorated with hundreds of thousands of petals of golden-colored lotuses. Mandarava flowers and great mandarava flowers are spread out, without stumps, thorns, rubble, or pebbles, without ravines, cliffs, or places where impurities are discarded, without mounds or mountains. Sharadvatiputra, when one places one's foot on that great earth, one feels softness; when one lifts one's foot, it makes a 'spar' sound. Sharadvatiputra, just as, for example, when one places one's head on a soft pillow filled with cotton, one feels softness; when one lifts one's head, it makes a 'spar' sound, similarly, Sharadvatiputra, so is that great earth.
