The earth spoke thus to the venerable Sharadvatiputra: "Sharadvatiputra, that Bhagavan Tathagata, Arhat, Samyaksambuddha Akshobhya rarely goes to villages and cities. However, whenever he goes and stays, golden lotuses with a thousand petals appear in that house. Sharadvatiputra, if any son or daughter of a family there thinks, 'May all these lotuses that appear from under the feet of the Tathagata when he goes to this house gather in one place!' Even if they think so, by the power of the Buddha, they will gather in one place. If they think, 'May they remain in the sky!' Even if they think so, by the power of the Buddha, they will remain in the sky. Sharadvatiputra, those lotuses will also become stupas for the people of that three-thousand great-thousand world realm. Sharadvatiputra, furthermore, in that three-thousand great-thousand world realm, wherever the Bhagavan Tathagata, Arhat, Samyaksambuddha Akshobhya goes to teach the Dharma, such lotuses appear. The emanations that the Bhagavan Tathagata, Arhat, Samyaksambuddha Akshobhya sends forth in other directions and in any other world realms, in those places also, such lotuses appear by the power of the Buddha. When the Arhat, the perfectly enlightened Buddha Akshobhya is beheld, worshipped, and attended to with reverence, when the gods of the Thirty-three descend from those jeweled staircases, the gods of the Thirty-three generate such an envious thought towards the people of Jambudvipa: "Whatever is the divine perfection of us gods, and whatever is the human perfection of the people of Jambudvipa, those perfections of us gods, these perfections of the people of Jambudvipa are not inferior even by the slightest difference, and moreover, in this Jambudvipa, the Blessed One, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the perfectly enlightened Buddha Akshobhya is teaching the Dharma and abiding, therefore it is especially superior," thus the gods of the Thirty-three envy the people of Jambudvipa. Sharadvatiputra, when those people of Jambudvipa ascend to the place of the gods of the Thirty-three, they do not envy the gods of the Thirty-three. Why is that? They think thus: "These gods' divine perfections, our own perfections are not inferior, and moreover, in our Jambudvipa, the Blessed One, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the perfectly enlightened Buddha Akshobhya is teaching the Dharma, therefore, in this way, our Buddha's perfection surpasses these gods of the Thirty-three." Sharadvatiputra, furthermore, in that Buddha-field, the gods also see the people, and the people also see the gods. Likewise, those people of Jambudvipa, while dwelling in Jambudvipa itself, also see the palaces of the gods who enjoy desire.
