Thus it should be done. Furthermore, O Protector of Goodness, a Bodhisattva is one who relies on what is to be completely purified. What is the reliance on what is to be completely purified? It is steadfastness of mind and steadfastness of diligence. What is this steadfastness of mind? O Protector of Goodness, here, a Bodhisattva thinks, 'Having attended to and revered as many Buddhas as there are grains of sand in the Ganges River, and then generating the mind of enlightenment once, and then again, after as many eons as there are grains of sand in the Ganges River, one Buddha appears, and with as many mind-generations as there are grains of sand in the Ganges River, one obtains a human body, and having obtained birth as a human, with as many grains of sand in the Ganges River, one hears a single phrase of the Dharma, and thereby wisdom becomes clear, may that be beneficial for unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment.' One should generate the mind in this way. Thus, a Bodhisattva should generate such steadfastness of mind: 'Whatever the wisdom of the Buddha is like, may I obtain it. With such difficult practices, may I also truly accomplish that wisdom of the Buddha.' One should generate the mind in this way. O Protector of Goodness, Bodhisattvas are those with such steadfastness of mind. O Protector of Goodness, some who are not intelligent here will understand the meaning of the example that has been spoken, so I will give you an example. O Protector of Goodness, if enlightenment is attained through such difficult practices, then if someone trains for as many eons as there are grains of sand in the Ganges River without exhaling or inhaling, and does not exhale or inhale, in order to manifestly awaken to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, and remains for as many eons as there are grains of sand in the Ganges River, then the Bodhisattva should generate power for that. It should be abandoned. I should not completely abandon unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment.' One should generate such steadfastness of mind. O Protector of Goodness, a Bodhisattva is one who possesses such steadfastness of mind. O Protector of Goodness, if a Bodhisattva generates such a mind, what does he hold onto? He does not hold onto what abides, nor does he hold onto what does not abide. How does he not hold onto what abides, nor hold onto what does not abide? What

There is also no place to transform into unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, and it can be quickly obtained now. O Śrīrakṣita, if someone were to give alms by filling the three thousand great thousand worlds with jewels, it would be better if someone were to abide, accept, and diligently practice the sutras spoken by the Tathagata concerning perfect enlightenment in the manner of these children, that person would accumulate more merit than the former. O Śrīrakṣita, a Bodhisattva is steadfast in mind, and steadfastness in mind is because the mind has no object of focus, therefore he will not be discouraged. So, what should be completely practiced? There are many things that should be completely practiced. What are the many things that should be completely practiced? The many things that should be completely practiced refer to not being able to realize even a single generation of mind. Why? Because those dharmas are not something that can be transmitted. For this, this is the most supreme thing to be completely practiced, just like steadfastness of mind. To this, it should be said: What will happen or not happen? What will I become like? Without a mind, yet having the concept of mind, great fear will arise. They always discriminate, thinking about how to obtain enlightenment, dwelling in a place that is not the end of karma, yet practicing the oral instructions of yoga. These are the characteristics of laziness, these are not the characteristics of enlightenment. Here, all doubts will arise, whether to become a Buddha or a Śrāvaka? If one does not practice or seek the most supreme Buddhadharma, one cannot obtain this happiness merely through sound. Even if there is the intention, faith, and joy of practicing the great king, one cannot obtain this leisure merely through the mind. Here, all actions are said to be done through one dharma. If one realizes this difference, one should practice the cause of enlightenment. O Śrīrakṣita, if this Dharma category is explained to him, possessing that Dharma category, the Bodhisattva will not please the Buddhas, and he himself will be prophesied to become a Tathagata, Arhat, and Perfectly Enlightened One. O Śrīrakṣita, for this, the Bodhisattva at home
