Do not be懈怠. Alas, the true Dharma will decay, these will not last long, and short duration will not last long, one should initiate steadfast diligence. After saying this, the Blessed One said to the Venerable Mahakasyapa: Blessed One, those who hear such sutras and do not generate such true protection are rare. After saying this, the Blessed One said to the Venerable Mahakasyapa: Kasyapa, sentient beings who possess four dharmas do not generate aversion. What are the four? Being greatly negligent, not believing in the ripening of karma, not believing in the great hells, and not believing that I will die like this. Kasyapa, sentient beings who possess these four dharmas do not generate aversion. Kasyapa, there are also sentient beings who possess four dharmas who do not generate aversion. What are the four? The great elements are weakened, abiding without interruption, becoming capable and powerful, being extremely attached to the qualities of desire, not having practiced yoga with pride, and becoming those with the power of suffering. Kasyapa, sentient beings who possess these four dharmas do not generate aversion. Kasyapa, a bhikshu who possesses four dharmas will abandon the Bodhi of the Buddha. What are the four? He has committed sinful deeds in the past, he will be impoverished by the Dharma, he proclaims the ripening of unwholesome results, the Khenpo and Acharya are praised by many, he will abandon the Bodhi of the Buddha, and after following them to learn, he abandons it, becoming one of little learning, and because of other faults, he becomes jealous of others, thereby abandoning the Bodhi of the Buddha. Kasyapa, a bhikshu who possesses these four dharmas will abandon the Bodhi of the Buddha. The chapter on explaining the three vows is called the Mahayana Sutra. The third volume is complete. Kasyapa, there is only one Dharma for becoming a Shramana and a Brahmin. What is the one? The mind does not abide in all dharmas, this is becoming a Shramana.

is also the Dharma practiced by Brahmins. Light Protector, just as someone falls from a cliff into an empty place, or a place empty of trees, or knows the earth to be empty with the consciousness of emptiness, that person will not stop breathing because of it. Light Protector, similarly, clinging to all dharmas, clinging to characteristics with the eye, clinging to signs with the eye, this is not the Dharma practiced by ascetics, nor is it the Dharma practiced by Brahmins. Similarly, clinging to characteristics with the ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind, clinging to signs, this is not the Dharma practiced by ascetics, nor is it the Dharma practiced by Brahmins. Clinging to the characteristics of form, as well as feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness, this is not the Dharma practiced by ascetics, nor is it the Dharma practiced by Brahmins. Seeking enlightenment through discipline, boasting of enlightenment through discipline, and boasting of enlightenment through completely seeking to hear, and seeking enlightenment with shame and conscience, and boasting of enlightenment through coming and going, these dharmas are not the Dharma practiced by ascetics, nor are they the Dharma practiced by Brahmins. Whatever Dharma is boasted of, it will bring harm. What brings harm? Desire brings harm. Hatred brings harm. Ignorance brings harm. Therefore, whoever clings to characteristics with the eye, because of clinging to characteristics, the eye will be harmed by lovely and unlovely forms. The ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind are also the same; if one clings to characteristics with the mind, then because of clinging to characteristics, the mind will be harmed by lovely and unlovely dharmas. Whoever is harmed, that sentient being will be impoverished in the realms of hell, animals, and hungry ghosts, as well as among gods and humans. Whoever is impoverished is impoverished because of boasting. So, what is boasting? Thinking "I" is boasting. Thinking "mine" is boasting. Thinking "woman" is boasting. Thinking "man" is boasti

Is arrogance. Thinking it is earth is arrogance. Thinking it is water is arrogance. Thinking it is fire is arrogance. Thinking it is wind is arrogance. Perceiving it as a skeleton is arrogance. Perceiving it as decayed is arrogance. Perceiving it as blue is arrogance. Perceiving it as red is arrogance. Perceiving it as worm-eaten is arrogance. Perceiving it as liberated is arrogance. Thinking there is any liberation, and thinking that one will be liberated because of it, is arrogance. Thinking that one should recall various past abodes is arrogance. Thinking that one should recall the self is arrogance. It has completely passed. It is completely happening now. Whoever I was, that is the past. Whoever I am now, that is happening now, is arrogance. Clinging to anything is arrogance, even clinging to nirvana is arrogance. Thinking that one should attain nirvana is arrogance. Light-protector, in short, clinging is arrogance. Whatever one clings to, even thinking it is emptiness, all of that is arrogance, not the practice of a renunciant, nor the practice of a Brahmin, all of it is arrogance. Like this, these are not the practices of a renunciant, nor the practices of a Brahmin. The dharmas of renunciants and Brahmins are what the Thus-Gone One has spoken, Light-protector, like space or earth. Why is that? Because space does not think, "I am space." Light-protector, likewise, renunciants and Brahmins do not think, "I am a renunciant," "I am a Brahmin." Light-protector, therefore, not being arrogant about these dharmas, that is the practice of a renunciant, it is the practice of a Brahmin. Why is it called the practice of a renunciant and the practice of a Brahmin? Because a renunciant neither does it that way, nor is it unwholesome, therefore it is called the practice of a renunciant and the practice of a Brahmin.
