Because he enters various different lineages, and transmits from one Dharma to another, abiding in the wise, therefore he is called a Bodhisattva. When that Bodhisattva has comprehended the realm of the All-Seeing, the nature of wisdom, then he is called the All-Seeing. That Bodhisattva actualizes the realm of the All-Seeing, and mind and wisdom increase in an instant, without being completely weary, therefore he is called a Bodhisattva. When that Bodhisattva manifests through all the doors of Dharma appearance, and abides in the place without darkness, then he is called Seeing Without Obscuration. That Bodhisattva, for the sake of showing the unobscured wisdom, remembers the Buddha, therefore he is called a Bodhisattva. When that Bodhisattva has actualized the way of wisdom of the Thus-Gone Ones, then he is called Actualizing All Dharmas. That Bodhisattva practices the actualization of the way of wisdom of the Thus-Gone Ones, and comprehends understanding, therefore he is called a Bodhisattva. When that Bodhisattva practices in the realm of the Thus-Gone Ones, and becomes non-dual with all the Thus-Gone Ones, then, he is called non-dual with all the Buddhas who have appeared in the past, future, and present. That Bodhisattva, in order to obtain the body of the Thus-Gone One, completely tames himself and properly contemplates, therefore he is called a Bodhisattva. When that Bodhisattva has comprehended the true limit that abides in all beings, then he is called Knowing the True Limit. That Bodhisattva strives to understand the true limit of abiding, and does not actualize the true limit, and also does not completely attain equanimity in the lineage of completely distinguishing all dharmas, therefore he is called a Bodhisattva. When that Bodhisattva is without taking and without abandoning, without conception and without discrimination, then, he is called Completely Abandoning Aspirations.

Through practice and non-retrogression, it is called the Bodhisattva Samantabhadra's conduct and aspiration that are never interrupted. When the Bodhisattva, through the manner of manifesting the Dharmadhatu, thoroughly knows that the Dharmadhatu is without limit and without center, and thoroughly knows the characteristics of all dharmas with one characteristic, then it is called the ultimate of the Dharmadhatu. When the Bodhisattva possesses the non-retrogressive equanimity, it is called the equanimity of taking up the Bodhisattva's lineage. The Bodhisattva, through the manner of thoroughly knowing the entering into the Dharmadhatu, thoroughly knows that the Dharmadhatu is without limit and without center, and thoroughly knows various characteristics in the manner that all dharmas have different characteristics, and is never weary of future kalpas, nor is he weary of expounding the Dharma, and with great compassion protects all beings, and with loving-kindness benefits and tames all sentient beings, therefore he is called the Bodhisattva Samantabhadra. O sons of the Victorious Ones, for example, the powerful elephant king dwells in the valley of the seven-jeweled nature called the Golden Mountain Side, surrounded by seven jeweled walls, surrounded by seven nets of jeweled trees, and covered by a net of precious jewels. That powerful elephant king is entirely white like snow, has a golden banner, is adorned with gold ornaments, is covered with golden pendants, is covered with a golden net, has a net of bells strung on it, has its nose covered with a net of all precious jewels, has a string of precious bells strung on it, has its seven limbs firmly placed, has six tusks, is pleasing, has consistent form and color, is beautiful and pure to look at without weariness, is endowed with lineage, is intelligent and acts as one wishes. That elephant king disappears from the valley of the Golden Mountain Side at the gate of Indra, the lord of the thirty-three gods, and comes to pay homage to Indra, the lord of the thirty-three gods.

Then, the king of the gods, Indra, rode upon the elephant king, the powerful one. At that time, the elephant king, the powerful one, displayed various kinds of magical manifestations, manifesting thirty-three heads. On each head, he manifested six tusks. On each tusk, he manifested seven ponds. In each pond, he manifested seven lotuses. On each lotus, he manifested seven hundred daughters of the gods. All those daughters of the gods made sounds of thousands of divine musical instruments, serving the lord of the gods, Indra. The lord of the gods, Indra, in order to enjoy the service and manifestations of the powerful one, went from the shore called 'Water Flow Direction' to the grove of edible trees called 'Covered by a Single White Lotus.' Then, the lord of the gods, Indra, having gone to the grove of edible trees covered by a single white lotus, descended from the elephant king, the powerful one, and dwelt in a house adorned with all precious jewels and essences, and played with limitless daughters of the gods. Then, the elephant king, the powerful one, displayed magical transformations with various bodies, and in that grove of edible trees covered by a single white lotus, he sported and rejoiced together with the goddesses and the thirty-three gods. Thus, when the elephant king, the powerful one, was sporting and rejoicing, he remained with bodies identical to those of the thirty-three gods, so that there was no difference in body between the thirty-three gods and the elephant king, the powerful one. There was no difference in form. There was no difference in color. There was no difference in splendor. There was no difference in light, ornaments, garments, games, enjoyments, sights, or conduct. There was no distinction between the elephant king, the powerful one, and the thirty-three gods, saying, 'These are the thirty-three gods,' or 'This is the elephant king, the powerful one.'
