Because it appears untransformed, it is unconditioned. When this was said, the Venerable Subhuti said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, it is so, O Sugata, it is so. For what reason is that? Blessed One, for example, form is neither bound nor liberated. Similarly, feelings, perceptions, volitions, and Blessed One, for example, consciousness is neither bound nor liberated. Blessed One, the suchness of form is also neither bound nor liberated. Similarly, the suchness of feeling, the suchness of perception, the suchness of volitions, and Blessed One, the suchness of consciousness is also neither bound nor liberated. Then, the Venerable Purna Maitreyiputra said to the Venerable Subhuti: Venerable Subhuti, do you say that form is neither bound nor liberated? Similarly, feelings, perceptions, volitions, and Venerable Subhuti, do you say that consciousness is neither bound nor liberated? Venerable Subhuti, do you say that the suchness of form is also neither bound nor liberated? Similarly, the suchness of feeling, the suchness of perception, the suchness of volitions, and Venerable Subhuti, do you say that the suchness of consciousness is also neither bound nor liberated? Venerable Subhuti, or what is that form which you say is neither bound nor liberated? Similarly, what is that feeling? What is that perception? What are those volitions? Venerable Subhuti, what is that consciousness which you say is also neither bound nor liberated? Venerable Subhuti, what is that suchness of form which you say is neither bound nor liberated? Similarly, what is the suchness of feeling, the suchness of perception, and the suchness of volitions? Venerable Subhuti, what is that suchness of consciousness which you say is neither bound nor liberated?

Whatever is the form of an illusory person, that is neither bound nor liberated. Likewise, whatever is the feeling of an illusory person, whatever is the perception of an illusory person, whatever are the formations of an illusory person, and O venerable one, whatever is the consciousness of an illusory person at any time, that is neither bound nor liberated. O venerable one, whatever is the suchness of the form of an illusory person, that is neither bound nor liberated. Likewise, whatever is the suchness of the feeling of an illusory person, and the suchness of the perception, and whatever is the suchness of the formations, and O venerable one, whatever is the suchness of the consciousness of an illusory person, that is neither bound nor liberated. Why is that? Because it is not real, therefore it is neither bound nor liberated. Because it is peaceful, therefore it is neither bound nor liberated. Because it is unborn, therefore it is neither bound nor liberated. These are the great armor of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who has donned the great armor, who has truly entered the Great Vehicle, who is truly abiding in the Great Vehicle, the great armor without armor. When this was said, the venerable Gangpo Maitreya's son became silent. Then, the venerable Subhuti said this to the Blessed One: O Blessed One, what is that Great Vehicle by which a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, having donned the great armor, truly enters the Great Vehicle and will truly abide in the Great Vehicle? How should one know how to truly enter that Great Vehicle? From where will that Great Vehicle definitely arise? Or who truly enters that Great Vehicle? Where will that Great Vehicle abide? From where will that Great Vehicle definitely arise? When this was said, the Blessed One said this to the venerable Subhuti: Subhuti, the term 'Great Vehicle' is an immeasurable expression. Subhuti, the term 'immeasurable' is because it is limitless. Subhuti, if someone says this, how should one know how to truly enter that Great Vehicle? From where will that Great Vehicle definitely arise?

Ma. By what does one rightly enter that Great Vehicle? Where will that Great Vehicle abide? What will that Great Vehicle necessarily arise from? It is said that having rightly entered through the doors of the perfections, one will necessarily arise from the three realms, and having rightly entered by that which is invisible, one will abide in omniscience. Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas will necessarily arise. However, there is nothing that arises from anywhere, nothing that has rightly entered by anything, nothing that will abide anywhere, but one will abide in omniscience in the manner of non-abiding. That Great Vehicle has not extracted anything, nor will it arise from anything, and the extraction is immeasurable. Why is that? Because both the thing that arises and the dharma by which it arises do not exist and are invisible. Thus, when all dharmas are non-existent and invisible, what dharma will arise from what? Having spoken thus, the venerable Subhuti said this to the Blessed One: Blessed One, this which is called the Great Vehicle, the Great Vehicle, is said to overwhelm the world with its gods, humans, and asuras and necessarily arise from it. Because it is equal like the sky, it is the Great Vehicle. Just as in the sky there is space for sentient beings that cannot be measured, counted, or quantified, so too, Blessed One, in the Great Vehicle there is space for sentient beings that cannot be measured, counted, or quantified. Blessed One, in this way, this is the Great Vehicle of the Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas. In this, coming is not seen, going is not seen, and abiding is not present. Blessed One, in this way, in this Great Vehicle, the prior limit is not seen, the later limit is not seen, and the middle is not seen. Blessed One, that Vehicle is equal in the three times. Therefore, it is called the Great Vehicle, the Great Vehicle. Then, the Blessed One gave praise to the venerable Subhuti, saying: Subhuti, well done, well done! Subhuti, it is so, it is so.
