Whatever is relied upon, the correct view is obstructed. By obstructing the worldly correct view, the four mindfulnesses are obstructed. Likewise, up to the state of omniscience, it is obstructed. By obstructing the state of omniscience, immeasurable, countless, and limitless aggregates of non-merit will be fully grasped. By fully grasping immeasurable, countless, and limitless aggregates of non-merit, sentient beings in hells, the birth places of animals, and among the pretas will experience immeasurable, countless, and limitless suffering and displeasure. Thus it was spoken, and the venerable Ānanda said this to the Blessed One: "Venerable Blessed One, how many ways does a foolish person abandon this profound Prajñāpāramitā when they abandon it?" The Blessed One said: "Ānanda, that foolish person abandons this profound Prajñāpāramitā in four ways." He asked: "What are the four?" The Blessed One said: "It is like this: by the blessing of Māra, they do not believe or desire this profound Dharma, they do not obtain faith in that Dharma, and they fall into the hands of evil friends, they are manifestly attached to the five aggregates and do not strive, and they praise themselves and disparage others. Ānanda, that foolish person who possesses these four qualities abandons this profound Prajñāpāramitā." Then the venerable Ānanda said this to the Blessed One: "Venerable Blessed One, if one is endowed with such an action that is deficient in Dharma, one will be despised and harmed, therefore, Bodhisattvas should restrain their verbal actions." The Blessed One said: "Ānanda, it is so, it is so. It is just as you have said." Thus it was spoken, and the venerable Ānanda said this to the Blessed One: "Venerable Blessed One, whatever son of good family or daughter of good family hears this teaching of the Prajñāpāramitā, and having heard it, also believes, grasps, holds, reads, and

and mastering it, properly attending to it, writing it down, and commissioning others to write it down, how much merit will that son or daughter of good family accumulate? The Blessed One said: Kungawo, whichever son or daughter of good family holds, recites, reads, thoroughly understands, and properly attends to this Perfection of Wisdom, and writes it down and commissions others to write it down, and furthermore, when the Tathagata dwells in the three kinds of miracles and teaches the Dharma to sentient beings, namely: the Sutra section, the section of verses, the section of prophecies, the section of stanzas, the section of inspired utterances, the section of origins, the section of such occurrences, the section of previous lives, the section of narratives, the section of marvels, and the section of definitive teachings, all of these he holds, recites, reads, thoroughly understands, and properly attends to, then the merit he accumulates is not even close to one hundredth part of the previous accumulation of merit from holding this Perfection of Wisdom up to properly attending to it. It is not comparable to one thousandth part, one hundred thousandth part, one hundred millionth part, one billionth part, one hundred billionth part, nor in number, proportion, enumeration, or cause. Kungawo, furthermore, the Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Buddhas in the world realms of the eastern direction, as many as the sands of the Ganges River, and similarly, the Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Buddhas in the world realms of the southern direction, the western direction, the northern direction, and similarly, the four intermediate directions, the lower direction, and the upper direction, as many as the sands of the Ganges River, dwell in the three kinds of miracles and teach sentient beings, namely: the Sutra section, the section of verses, the section of prophecies, the section of stanzas, the section of inspired utterances, the section of origins, the section of such occurrences, the section of previous lives, the section of narratives, and the section of
