Thus he spoke. The venerable Subhuti, for what reason is it that this which is called form is counted as an undiminished number? Likewise, this which is called feeling, and perception, and formations, and this which is called consciousness, is it counted as an undiminished number? Thus, connecting as before, up to this which is called all-aspects-knowing, is it counted as an undiminished number? Having spoken thus, the venerable Subhuti said this to the venerable Saradvatiputra: Form is not other, and non-arising is not other, the nature of non-arising is form, and the nature of form is non-arising. Likewise, feeling is not other, perception is not other, formations are not other, consciousness is not other, and non-arising is not other, the nature of consciousness is non-arising, and the nature of non-arising is consciousness. Venerable Saradvatiputra, by this number, this which is called form is counted as an undiminished number. Likewise, this which is called feeling, and perception, and formations, and this which is called consciousness, is counted as an undiminished number. Thus, connecting as before, Venerable Saradvatiputra, likewise, all-aspects-knowing is not other, and non-arising is not other, the nature of non-arising is all-aspects-knowing, and the nature of all-aspects-knowing is non-arising. Venerable Saradvatiputra, by this number, this which is called all-aspects-knowing is counted as an undiminished number. Then, the venerable Subhuti made this request to the Blessed One: O Blessed One, furthermore, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices in the Perfection of Wisdom, at that time, when making close observation of these dharmas, for the sake of extreme purity, he truly sees that form is unborn. Likewise,

The dharmas of the Buddhas, and the Buddhas are not born, and one truly sees them accordingly. For the sake of being utterly pure, one also truly sees the perfectly complete Buddha who is not born. Then, the venerable Sharadvatiputra said this to the venerable Subhuti. According to my understanding of the meaning spoken by the venerable Subhuti, form is unborn. Likewise, feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness are unborn. Similarly, by analogy, up to enlightenment is unborn. The dharmas of the Buddhas are also unborn. If that is the case, then those who have entered the stream will attain the fruit of entering the stream, and likewise, even up to the arhats will attain arhatship later. Similarly, those of the pratyekabuddha vehicle will have already attained pratyekabuddhahood, and the bodhisattva mahasattvas will only attain omniscience. The five destinies will also become undifferentiated. Even without seeing, the bodhisattva mahasattvas will only attain the five kinds of enlightenment. Venerable Subhuti, if all dharmas are unborn, then why should those who desire the fruit of stream-entry cultivate the path in order to abandon the three fetters? Why should those who desire the fruit of once-returner cultivate the path in order to abandon desire, hatred, and delusion? Why should those who desire the fruit of non-returner cultivate the path in order to abandon the fetters that correspond to the lower part? Why should those who desire the fruit of arhat cultivate the path in order to abandon the five fetters that correspond to the upper part? For example, all formations are dependently arisen, thus one should cultivate the path of the pratyekabuddha. And why is it that the bodhisattva mahasattva practices austerities and experiences hundreds of sufferings for the sake of sentient beings? And why is it that the Tathagata manifests the unexcelled, perfectly complete enlightenment?
