Ro! This is immeasurable. This Bodhisattva will practice difficult practices. This is not practicing. This Bodhisattva is the last existence. This is not the last existence. This Bodhisattva will dwell at the Bodhi tree. This is not dwelling. This Bodhisattva will have demons appear. Knowing that this is no demons appearing. Subhuti, thus the Dharma eye of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva is completely pure. After thus speaking, the venerable Subhuti said to the Blessed One: Venerable Blessed One, what is the Buddha eye of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva that is completely pure? The Blessed One said: Subhuti, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, with the aid of the Bodhi mind, enters the Vajra-like Samadhi, and subsequently attains omniscience. He also possesses the ten powers of the Tathagata, possesses the four fearlessnesses, possesses the four unobstructed knowledges, great love, great compassion, possesses the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha, and the Buddha eye of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, in all dharmas, there is nothing unseen, nothing unheard, nothing unremembered, nothing unknowable. Subhuti, the complete purification of the eye of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva who attains the unexcelled perfect enlightenment is like this. Subhuti, these are the five extremely pure eyes of the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas. Subhuti, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva makes these five eyes completely pure, it should be known that he has put on great armor. Thereafter, the venerable Subhuti said to the Blessed One: Venerable Blessed One, when the Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Prajnaparamita, in what kind of Dharma should he abide? The Blessed One said: Subhuti.

Thus, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, should not abide in any dharma. Why is that? Because the place, the one who abides, and that which is abided in are all unattainable. Having spoken thus, the venerable Subhuti said to the Blessed One: "Venerable Blessed One, as I understand the meaning of what the Blessed One has said, Venerable Blessed One, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, should not abide in form. Likewise, he should not abide in feeling, perception, formations, or consciousness. He should not abide in the eye. Likewise, he should not abide in the ear, nose, tongue, body, or mind. Likewise, he should not abide in forms. Likewise, he should not abide in sound, smell, taste, touch, or dharmas. He should not abide in eye-consciousness, and so forth, he should not abide in mind-consciousness. Likewise, combining them, he should not abide in the element of dharma. He should not abide in eye-contact. He should not abide in the feeling born of eye-contact, and so forth, he should not abide in the feeling born of mind-contact. He should not abide in the earth element. He should not abide in the water element, fire element, or wind element. He should not abide in the space element. He should not abide in the consciousness element. He should not abide in ignorance, and so forth, he should not abide in old age and death. Why is that? Thus, Venerable Blessed One, form is empty of form. Likewise, feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness are empty of consciousness. Practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, one does not abide in form. Likewise, what is the emptiness of feeling? What is the emptiness of perception? What is the emptiness of formation? What is the emptiness of consciousness? That consciousness is not consciousness, nor is there consciousness apart from the emptiness of consciousness; consciousness itself is emptiness, and emptiness is consciousness. Venerable Lord, in this way, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, does not abide in feeling, and so forth, does not abide in consciousness. Similarly, applying this, one does not abide in ignorance, and so forth, does not abide in old age and death. Why is that? Thus, what is the emptiness of old age and death? That is not old age and death, nor is there old age and death apart from the emptiness of old age and death; old age and death itself is emptiness, and emptiness is old age and death. Venerable Lord, in this way, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, does not abide in old age and death. Venerable Lord, furthermore, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, does not abide in the four mindfulnesses. Why is that? Thus, the four mindfulnesses are empty of the four mindfulnesses, and there is no emptiness apart from the four mindfulnesses, nor are there four mindfulnesses apart from emptiness; the four mindfulnesses themselves are emptiness, and emptiness is the four mindfulnesses. Similarly, applying this, one does not abide in the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha. Why is that? Thus, the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha are empty of the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha, and there is no emptiness apart from the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha, nor are there eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha apart from emptiness,
