What is the nature of the mind of the mind? The reply: Sharadvatiputra, that which does not change and has no conceptualization with respect to all dharmas, that is called the nature of the mind of the mind. Having spoken thus, the venerable Sharadvatiputra said this to the Blessed One: Venerable Blessed One, is the mind itself that which does not change and has no conceptualization? Are form, feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness themselves that which do not change and have no conceptualization? Similarly, up to all formations, are they also that which do not change and have no conceptualization? If that is the case, then even up to enlightenment, will it also be that which does not change and has no conceptualization? The Blessed One replied: Sharadvatiputra, it is just so. Whatever mind does not change and has no conceptualization, up to all formations, and likewise up to enlightenment, for that also there is no change and no conceptualization. Sharadvatiputra, that which does not change and has no conceptualization with respect to all dharmas, that is called the faultlessness of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who practices the Perfection of Wisdom. Sharadvatiputra, furthermore, the faultlessness of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva is as follows: the four mindfulnesses that are well grasped by skillful means. What are the four? Here, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva is diligent, possesses knowledge, possesses mindfulness, and by not focusing, eliminates attachment and displeasure towards the world. He abides contemplating the body on the inner body, and also does not generate consciousness based on the body. Similarly, he is diligent, possesses knowledge, possesses mindfulness, and by not focusing, eliminates attachment and displeasure towards the world. He abides contemplating the body on the outer body, and also does not generate consciousness based on the body. Similarly, he is diligent, possesses knowledge, possesses mindfulness, and by not focusing, eliminates attachment and displeasure towards the world. He abides contemplating the body on the inner and outer body.
