From the establishments of mindfulness onwards, up to the noble eightfold path, and similarly, from the ten powers of the Tathagata up to the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha, combine them in that way. Just as combined in the chapter on the aggregates, combine them extensively in all aspects. Sharadvatiputra, in this way, if a Bodhisattva Mahasattva is not skilled in means, then previously he will certainly fall, and will fall into the state of a Shravaka and Pratyekabuddha, and will not enter into the faultlessness of a Bodhisattva. Sharadvatiputra, if someone says what is the faultlessness of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, Sharadvatiputra, for this, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, practicing in the Prajnaparamita, should train in this way: in no way should one generate pride with form. Feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness, do not generate pride. Do not generate pride with the eye. Similarly, do not generate pride with the ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind. Do not generate pride with forms. Similarly, do not generate pride with sound, smell, taste, touch, and dharmas. Do not generate pride with the eye element. Do not generate pride with the form element. Do not generate pride with the eye consciousness element. Combine them in that way, up to the mind element, do not generate pride. Up to the mind consciousness element, do not generate pride. Do not generate pride with the perfection of generosity. Similarly, do not generate pride with the perfection of morality, the perfection of patience, the perfection of diligence, the perfection of meditation, and the perfection of wisdom. Similarly, do not generate pride with meditation, the immeasurables, and the formless absorptions. Do not generate pride with the establishments of mindfulness. Combine them in that way, up to the noble eightfold path, do not generate pride. Similarly, do not generate pride with the ten powers of the Tathagata. Combine them in that way, the Buddha's

One should not be arrogant with the eighteen unshared dharmas. Sharadvatiputra, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom in this way, he should not be arrogant with the unequal mind of enlightenment, the equal mind, the unshared mind, or the vast mind. Why is that? Because the very nature of the mind is luminosity. Having said this, the venerable Sharadvatiputra said to the Blessed One: Venerable Blessed One, what is the luminosity of the nature of the mind? Having said this, the Blessed One said to the venerable Sharadvatiputra: Sharadvatiputra, the mind is neither associated with desire nor unassociated; neither associated with hatred nor unassociated; neither associated with ignorance nor unassociated. Likewise, it is neither associated with nor unassociated with all the latent tendencies, all the bonds, and all the afflictions. Likewise, it is neither associated with nor unassociated with all the bonds of views. It is neither associated with nor unassociated with the minds of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas. Sharadvatiputra, this is the mind of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, naturally luminous. Having said this, the venerable Sharadvatiputra said: Blessed One, is there such a thing as a mind that is not a mind? The Blessed One said: Sharadvatiputra, what is the nature of the mind of the mind? Is it existent? Is it nonexistent? Is it possessed? Is it unpossessed? Is it an object of focus? Is it a place of focus? He replied: Venerable Blessed One, it is not. He said: Sharadvatiputra, if the nature of the mind of the mind is neither existent nor nonexistent and is not an object of focus, Sharadvatiputra, why do you say: Is there such a thing as a mind that is not a mind? Is such a question and examination reasonable? Having said this, the venerable Sharadvatiputra said to the Blessed One: Venerable Blessed One
