are the limits of the Buddha's teachings. Whether the Tathagatas appear or not, this Dharma-nature remains, the realm where the Dharma abides, and the color that is conceptualized by the completely conceptualized form, in the constant, constant time, and in the firm, firm time, is only without self-nature, and the Dharma is without self, and suchness, and the ultimate limit, this is the Dharma-nature's form. This is the Dharma-nature's feeling, and perception, and formations, and consciousness. These are the limits of the Dharma-nature's Buddha-dharmas. After thus speaking, the Bodhisattva Maitreya said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, among these three forms, which is the form to be seen as without substance? Which is substance? Which is neither without substance nor substance, and is well distinguished by ultimate meaning? These three feelings, these three perceptions, these three formations, these three consciousnesses, and among the limits of the Buddha's teachings, among these three, which are without substance? Which are substance? Which are neither without substance nor substance, and are well distinguished by ultimate meaning? After thus speaking, the Blessed One said to the Bodhisattva Maitreya: Maitreya, whatever is the completely conceptualized form, it should be seen as without substance. Whatever is the form that arises from discrimination, because the substance of discrimination exists, it should be seen as substance, but not because it arises independently. Whatever is the Dharma-nature's form, it is neither without substance nor substance, and it should be seen as well distinguished by ultimate meaning. The completely conceptualized feeling, and perception, and formations, and consciousness, and whatever are the limits of the completely conceptualized Buddha-dharmas, those should be seen as without substance. Whatever are the feelings that arise from discrimination, and perception, and formations, and consciousness, and whatever are the Buddha-dharmas that arise from discrimination

Those intervals are to be regarded as existent because conceptualization is substantially existent. It is not because it arises independently. Maitreya, whatever feelings, perceptions, formations, and consciousness of suchness, and Maitreya, whatever intervals between the dharmas of buddhahood of suchness, those are neither non-existent nor existent, and should be well distinguished by ultimate truth. After thus speaking, the bodhisattva Maitreya said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, thus there is no examination of the well-discriminated form, and thus there is no examination of the well-discriminated between feelings, perceptions, formations, consciousness, and the dharmas of buddhahood. It is like this: that which is called "form" is counted in the number of non-duality. It is like this: that which is called "feeling," that which is called "perception," that which is called "formations," that which is called "consciousness," and these between the dharmas of buddhahood are counted in the number of non-duality. What the Blessed One has spoken, what did the Blessed One intend when he said: It is like this: that which is called "form" is counted in the number of non-duality. It is like this: that which is called "feeling," that which is called "perception," that which is called "formations," that which is called "consciousness," and that between the dharmas of buddhahood is counted in the number of non-duality? After thus speaking, the Blessed One said to the bodhisattva Maitreya: Maitreya, what do you think? In the form that is completely imputed, is that which is the very nature of non-existence form? Or is it not? He replied: Blessed One, it is not. Therefore, is that which is called "form," which is merely name, concept, designation, and convention, form? He replied: Blessed One, it is not. Maitreya, in this way, whatever form is completely imputed is neither form nor non-form. Whatever is neither form nor non-form is non-dual. I meant this when I said: It is like this: that which is called "form"

That is counted as a non-dual number. It should be understood that it was spoken thus. Maitreya, what do you think? Relying on what does the name, designation, and term "form" arise? Is that which exists as a substance of the discriminated form not form? He replied: Blessed One, it is not. Maitreya, what do you think? Regarding the discriminated form, is that which is not its own nature and not its characteristic, by the imputed form, is that form? He replied: Blessed One, it is not. Maitreya, by this reasoning, likewise, whatever is the discriminated form is neither form nor non-form. Whatever is neither form nor non-form is non-dual. Considering that, like this, form is called a non-dual number. It should be understood that it was spoken thus. Maitreya, what do you think? Is that which is the nature of form, due to selflessness, the thoroughly analyzed form, form? He replied: Blessed One, it is not. Is that which is the nature of form itself, what is the nature of form, is that non-form? He replied: Blessed One, it is not. Maitreya, by this reasoning, likewise, whatever is the nature of form is neither form nor non-form. Whatever is neither form nor non-form is non-dual. Considering that, like this, form is called a non-dual number. It should be understood that it was spoken thus. Similarly, for feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness, and even up to the dharmas of the Buddhas, it should be applied in the same way. After it was spoken thus, Bodhisattva Maitreya said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, a Bodhisattva practicing the Perfection of Wisdom is skilled in the non-dual nature of form in this way, and is skilled in the boundary of the absence of characteristics in this way for feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness, and even up to the dharmas of the Buddhas.
