One should not abide in the manner of focusing on saying, "The sound of the perfection of generosity, the perfection of ethics, the perfection of patience, the perfection of diligence, the perfection of meditation, and the perfection of wisdom will not arise." One should not abide in the manner of focusing on saying, "The sound of the mindfulnesses, the correct abandonments, the legs of magical power, the faculties, the powers, the limbs of enlightenment, the eightfold noble path, the ten powers, the fearlessnesses, the separate correct knowledges, and the unmixed qualities of the Buddhas will not arise," and "The sound of stream-enterer, once-returner, non-returner, arhat, solitary Buddha, Bodhisattva, and Buddha will not arise." Why is that? Because the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Complete Buddha, having manifestly awakened to unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment, does not focus on all phenomena. Kausika, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva should not abide in the manner of focusing on the Perfection of Wisdom in that way. Then, the venerable Shariputra thought to himself: How then should a Bodhisattva Mahasattva abide in the Perfection of Wisdom? Then, the venerable Subhuti, knowing with his mind the mental discrimination of the venerable Shariputra, said this to the venerable Shariputra: Venerable Shariputra, what do you think? Where do you think the Tathagata abides? Shariputra said: Venerable Subhuti, the Tathagata does not abide anywhere. Venerable Subhuti, the mind of the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Complete Buddha, does not abide anywhere.

No, it does not abide in form, nor does it abide in feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness. It does not abide in the realm of the conditioned, nor does it abide in the realm of the unconditioned, and likewise, it does not abide even in the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha, nor does it abide even in the state of omniscience. Having spoken thus, the venerable Subhuti said this to the venerable Shariputra: Venerable Shariputra, how is it that the Tathagata, the Arhat, the perfectly enlightened Buddha, neither abides in form nor does not abide? He neither abides in feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness, nor does he not abide, and even up to the state of omniscience, he neither abides nor does he not abide. Thus, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva should abide in the Prajnaparamita. Venerable Shariputra, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva should thus abide in the Prajnaparamita in a way that does not abide. The Eight Thousand Verse Prajnaparamita, Chapter Nineteen. Then, some of the sons of the gods in that assembly thought to themselves: The language of the Yakshas, the words, speech, and expressions of the Yakshas, if spoken, might be understood. But this, the Prajnaparamita spoken, uttered, explained, and shown by the venerable Subhuti, is impossible to understand. Then, the venerable Subhuti, knowing with his mind the thoughts of those sons of the gods, said to those sons of the gods: Sons of the gods, what is it that is impossible to understand? The sons of the gods said: Holy Subhuti, it is impossible to understand. Subhuti said: Sons of the gods, in this way, not even a single letter has been uttered. Whatever has not been uttered cannot be heard. Why is that? Because the Prajnaparamita is without letters, therefore, there is neither a listener nor a speaker for it. The perfect enlightenment of the Tathagatas, the Arhats, the perfectly enlightened Buddhas
