Twenty-second, the first chapter of Śakra. Twenty-second, the first chapter of Śakra. Then, in this realm of the three-thousand great-thousand world, all the great kings who dwell there, together with countless billions of trillions of nayutas of gods, gathered in that very place. Similarly, the lords of the gods, Śakra, as well as the Nirmāṇaratayas, the Tuṣitas, the Nirmāṇakāyas, the Paranirmita-vaśavartins, and the Brahmā's attendants, also gathered together with the Brahmā hosts. In this realm of the three-thousand great-thousand world, all the gods between Brahmā and the Pure Abodes, also gathered together with countless billions of trillions of nayutas of gods. The bodily light of those gods of the retinue of the Four Great Kings, which arises from the maturation of karma, and the bodily light of the gods between the Thirty-three, the Nirmāṇaratayas, the Tuṣitas, the Nirmāṇakāyas, the Paranirmita-vaśavartins, the Brahmā, and the Pure Abodes, which arises from the maturation of karma, does not even approach one hundredth part of the light of the Tathāgata's nature. It cannot withstand a thousandth part, a millionth part, a billion trillionth part, number, part, count, example, or cause. In the presence of the light of the Tathāgata's nature, all those bodily lights of the gods arising from the maturation of karma are not bright, not fitting, not clear. The light of the Tathāgata shines supremely among them, shines excellently, shines exceptionally, shines superbly, most superbly, magnificently, unsurpassed, and incomparably. For example, in the presence of Jambū River gold, black iron, like a burnt pillar, is not bright, not fitting, not clear. Similarly, in the presence of the light of the Tathāgata's nature, all those bodily lights of the gods arising from the maturation of karma are also not bright, not fitting, not clear, because the Tathāgata

The light of arising appears supreme among them, exceedingly apparent, especially eminently apparent, excellent, most excellent, magnificent, unparalleled, and unsurpassed. Then, the lord of the gods, Indra, said to the venerable Subhuti: "Venerable Subhuti, in this great trichiliocosm, all the gods of the four great kingly orders, the Thirty-three, the Strife-free, the Joyful, the Enjoying Emanations, the Controlling Others' Emanations, and the sons of the gods between the Pure Abodes, all who dwell here, have gathered to hear the Dharma. If they wish to hear the teaching of the Perfection of Wisdom, venerable Subhuti, how should a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva abide in the Perfection of Wisdom? What is the Perfection of Wisdom of a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva? How should a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva train in the Perfection of Wisdom?" After saying this, the venerable Subhuti said to the lord of the gods, Indra: "Kausika. Therefore, listen well and carefully, hold it in your mind, and by the power of the Buddha, by the blessing of the Buddha, what is the Perfection of Wisdom of the Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas, how the Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas should abide in the Perfection of Wisdom, and how the Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas should train in the Perfection of Wisdom, these will be taught. Those sons of the gods who have not yet generated the mind for unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, may they also generate the mind for unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Those who have entered the correct and flawless path do not have the power to generate the mind for unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Why is that? Because they have cut off the continuity of samsara. However, if they generate the mind for unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, I will not obstruct their virtuous deeds, even for them...

Then rejoice. Especially for the excellent Dharmas, one should especially focus on the excellent Dharmas. Kauśika. What is the Prajñāpāramitā of a Bodhisattva Mahāsattva? Kauśika. Here, a Bodhisattva Mahāsattva, with a mind endowed with all-knowingness, contemplates form as impermanent. He contemplates feeling as suffering, selfless, empty, disease, tumor, pain, sin, dependent on others, of the nature of destruction, unstable, of the nature of utter destruction, fearful, harmful, like a contagious disease. And he also contemplates it in a non-apprehending manner. Similarly, he contemplates feeling, perception, formation, consciousness, as well as eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, mind, as well as earth element, water element, fire element, wind element, space element, consciousness element as impermanent. He contemplates feeling as suffering, selfless, empty, disease, tumor, pain, sin, dependent on others, of the nature of destruction, unstable, of the nature of utter destruction, fearful, harmful, like a contagious disease. And he also contemplates it in a non-apprehending manner. With a mind endowed with all-knowingness, he contemplates formations arising from ignorance, and also contemplates them as impermanent, suffering, selfless, peaceful, solitary, empty. Formation conditions consciousness, consciousness conditions name and form, name and form condition the six sense bases, the six sense bases condition contact, contact conditions feeling, feeling conditions craving, craving conditions grasping, grasping conditions existence, existence conditions birth, birth conditions old age and death, sorrow, weeping, suffering, distress, and disturbance arise. In this way, this purely great mass of suffering will arise. And he also contemplates it as impermanent, suffering.
