Is it the cause? Or what other ways can diligence be initiated, those I will closely accomplish for you. Initiate diligence! Thus, those beings use the resources of that Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, and initiate diligence with body or mind. They perfect all virtuous dharmas with the diligence of body and mind, and with those virtuous dharmas, they meditate on the noble, uncontaminated dharmas. By meditating on those, they attain the fruit of stream-enterer, the fruit of once-returner, the fruit of non-returner, and attain Arhatship itself, attain Pratyekabuddhahood, and manifestly awaken to unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment. To that, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva himself also initiates diligence, and also correctly encourages others to be diligent, praises diligence, and for any other beings who initiate diligence, he also praises and rejoices in accordance. Thus, that Bodhisattva-Mahasattva makes those beings engage in diligence in this way, establishes them well in diligence, and gradually liberates them from samsara through the three vehicles. Subhuti, thus the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva abides in the perfection of generosity, and gathers beings completely with the perfection of diligence. Subhuti, how does the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva act in the perfection of generosity, and make beings engage in the perfection of meditation? Subhuti, here, when the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva sees beings whose minds have become distracted, he says to them: Beings, why do you not engage in meditation? They say: Because there are no causes and conditions. To that, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva acts in the perfection of generosity, and advises those beings in this way: O beings, I will closely accomplish those causes and conditions that will not cause discrimination towards outer and inner dharmas. Then, the Bodhisattva
