Branches, the Noble Eightfold Path should be known as emptiness. The Noble Truths, Samadhi, the Immeasurable Ones, the Formless Absorptions, the Eight Liberations, the Nine Successive Abidings, Emptiness, Signlessness, Wishlessness, the Ten Powers of the Tathagata, the Four Fearlessnesses, the Four Discriminations, Great Love, Great Compassion, and the Eighteen Unshared Dharmas of the Buddha should be known as emptiness. The fruit of Stream-enterer, the fruit of Once-returner, the fruit of Non-returner, Arhatship itself, and Solitary Enlightenment should be known as emptiness. Knowledge of the aspects of the path and Omniscience should be known as emptiness. Buddha-fields should be known as emptiness. Buddhas should be known as emptiness. Bodhisattvas should be known as emptiness. Subhuti, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, having seen all those dharmas as empty, he teaches the Dharma to beings who have become inverted, teaching in such a way that they do not engage even in those emptinesses. Having seen in that way, he knows all dharmas without obstruction, and does not disturb any dharma, does not make it twofold, and teaches it as it truly is. Subhuti, for example, the emanation of the Tathagata emanates hundreds of thousands of myriads of kotis of emanations, some causing beings to engage in the Perfection of Giving, some causing them to engage in the Perfection of Morality, some causing them to engage in the Perfection of Patience, some causing them to engage in the Perfection of Diligence, some causing them to engage in the Perfection of Meditation, some causing them to engage in the Perfection of Wisdom, some causing them to engage in the Four Dhyanas, some causing them to engage in the Four Immeasurables, some causing them to engage in the Four Formless Absorptions, some causing them to engage in the Thirty-seven Factors of Enlightenment, some causing them to engage in the Four Noble Truths, some causing them to engage in the Eight Liberations, some causing them to engage in the Nine Successive Abidings, some causing them to engage in Emptiness and Signlessness.

Moreover, some are associated with the five supernormal knowledges, some with all samadhis, some with all dharani gates, some with the ten powers of the Thus-Gone One, some with the four fearlessnesses, some with the four analytical knowledges, some with great loving-kindness, some with great compassion, some with the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha, some with the fruit of stream-enterer, some with the fruit of once-returner, some with the fruit of non-returner, some with arhatship itself, some with self-awakening, and some with all the way to all-knowingness. Subhuti, what do you think about this? Does that emanation make some distinctions among the dharmas? He replied: No, Blessed One. The Blessed One said: Subhuti, likewise, when a bodhisattva mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he teaches the Dharma to sentient beings, completely liberating them from their inversions, and firmly establishing them as they truly are in a state of neither bound nor liberated. Why is that? Subhuti, it is like this: form is neither bound nor liberated, feeling, perception, volition, and consciousness are neither bound nor liberated, all the way to all-knowingness itself is neither bound nor liberated. The very non-binding and non-liberation of form is not form. The very non-binding and non-liberation of feeling, perception, volition, and consciousness is not consciousness. The very non-binding and non-liberation all the way to all-knowingness itself is not all-knowingness itself. Why is that? Because it is like this: form is utterly pure. Feeling, perception, volition, and consciousness are utterly pure. All the way to all-knowingness itself is utterly pure. Subhuti, in that way, when a bodhisattva mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, although he teaches the Dharma to sentient beings, he does not fixate on sentient beings. A bodhisattva mahasattva abides in non-fixation on all dharmas, and he dwells in that mode of non-fixation, form is empty.

The way that form and so on do not abide, and the way that feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness emptiness do not abide, and up to the all-knowingness, abide by the way that emptiness does not abide. There is nothing that abides in conditioned and unconditioned dharmas. Why is that? It is because the very nature of what is to be abided in is not perceived. Non-things do not abide in non-things. Self-nature does not abide in self-nature. Other things do not abide in other things. Why is that? It is because all of those are imperceptible. Whatever is imperceptible does not abide in anything. Subhuti, in that way, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Prajnaparamita, he thoroughly distinguishes all those dharmas with all emptinesses. Subhuti, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who practices the Prajnaparamita in that way does not find fault with the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas, the Pratyekabuddhas, the Shravakas, and all the Aryas. Why is that? It is because the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas, the Pratyekabuddhas, and the Shravakas also realize that very nature of dharma, and after realizing that very nature of dharma, they also teach the Dharma to sentient beings, and they do not transcend the nature of dharma of dharmas. Why is that? Subhuti, the element of dharma is untranscendable. Suchness and the limit of reality are untranscendable. Why is that? Because there is no self-nature in those that can be transcended. Then, the venerable Subhuti said this to the Bhagavan: Bhagavan, if it is like that, the element of dharma is also untranscendable, and suchness and the limit of reality are also untranscendable, what is it? Then is form also other, and the element of dharma also other? Is suchness also other? Is the limit of reality also other? Are feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness also other, and the element of dharma also other? Is suchness also other?
