Becoming many, and becoming one. Experiencing both the visible and the invisible. Passing unhindered through walls, fences, and mountains, just as a bird flies in the sky. Also walking in the sky, just like a winged bird. Also emerging upwards on the earth and diving downwards, just like in water. Also walking on water without sinking, just like on land. Permeating like smoke and blazing like fire, just like a great pile of fire. Even the sun and the moon, which have such great magical powers, such great strength, and such great authority, can be touched with the hand and controlled with the body up to the world of Brahma. Possessing such a pure ear that transcends humanity, he hears the sounds of gods and humans, whether near or far. He knows the minds of other beings and persons as they actually are, knowing that a mind with desire is a mind with desire, as it actually is. He knows that a mind without desire is a mind without desire, as it actually is. He remembers many kinds of former existences, from remembering a single thought to remembering a hundred thoughts. From remembering one eon to remembering a hundred eons. He even remembers countless billions of hundreds of thousands of millions of eons. 'I was in such and such a place, my name was such and such, my clan was such and such, my race was such and such, I ate such and such food, I stayed there for such and such a long time, and my lifespan was such and such.' Thus, 'having died and transmigrated from there, I was born in such and such a place,' and 'having died and transmigrated from there, I was born here.' He remembers many kinds of his own and others' former existences, complete with their forms, reasons, and signs. He possesses the divine eye, pure and surpassing the human, and knows beings as they die and are reborn, and how beings go to different realms, as it actually is. This is the fifth supernormal cognition.

O, abiding in those, in order to attend to the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, to completely ask, to completely request, to accumulate roots of virtue, to completely ripen sentient beings, and to completely purify the Buddha-fields, they go from Buddha-field to Buddha-field. Those roots of virtue are not dedicated to the Hearer's ground or the Solitary Buddha's ground, but rather are made common with all sentient beings and completely dedicated to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. In any case, they are completely dedicated in such a way that the three thoughts of what is dedicated, how it is dedicated, and to whom it is dedicated do not change. Subhuti, in this way, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva abides in the Perfection of Dhyana and completely upholds the Perfection of Diligence. Request: Bhagavan, how does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva abide in the Perfection of Dhyana and completely uphold the Perfection of Wisdom? The Bhagavan said: Subhuti, here, because a Bodhisattva Mahasattva abides in the Perfection of Dhyana, he does not perceive form, he does not perceive feeling, perception, formation, or consciousness, he does not perceive the eye, he does not perceive the ear, nose, tongue, body, or mind, he does not perceive form, he does not perceive sound, smell, taste, touch, or dharma, he does not perceive eye-consciousness, he does not perceive up to mind-consciousness, he does not perceive eye-contact, he does not perceive up to mind-contact, he does not perceive the feeling born from eye-contact, he does not perceive up to the feeling born from mind-contact, he does not perceive the earth element, he does not perceive up to the consciousness element, he does not perceive ignorance, he does not perceive up to old age and death, he does not perceive the Perfection of Giving, he does not perceive the Perfection of Ethics, the Perfection of Patience, the Perfection of Diligence, the Perfection of Dhyana, and the Perfection of Wisdom.

Not seen. Inner emptiness is not seen. The nature of non-things is not seen between emptiness. Mindfulness is not seen. Righteous abandonment and, miraculous feet and, faculties and, powers and, limbs of enlightenment and, the eightfold noble path are not seen. Up to all-knowingness is not seen. Conditioned realm is not seen. Unconditioned realm is not seen. Because it is not seen in this way, it does not manifestly accumulate. Because it does not manifestly accumulate, it does not arise or cease. Why is that? Subhuti, whether the Tathagatas appear or not, the Dharma-nature of all Dharmas remains, and because the Dharma-realm remains as it is, it does not arise or cease. Therefore, it is inseparable from the mind that is free from distraction and the attention that possesses all-knowingness. Subhuti, in this way, Bodhisattva Mahasattvas abide in the perfection of meditation and uphold the perfection of wisdom. Asked: Blessed One, how does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva abide in the perfection of wisdom and uphold the perfection of generosity? The Blessed One said: Subhuti, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the perfection of wisdom, he truly sees all Dharmas as emptiness.
