They do not diligently abide in the ground. They practice the Perfection of Meditation and do not diligently abide in distracted practices. They practice the Perfection of Wisdom and do not diligently abide in corrupted wisdom practices. They practice all dharmas in emptiness and are desirous of dharma, not undesirous of dharma. They practice the realm of dharma and do not speak well of the differences of dharma. They regard the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, and the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas as spiritual friends. Those sons and daughters of good family who are adherents of the Hearer and Solitary Realizer vehicles are also encouraged and established in unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. They are tamed. They are thoroughly trained. They are born in whatever world realm the Thus-Gone Ones, the Arhats, the Perfectly Awakened Ones, reside and sustain themselves in, in order to please them and to behold them. They desire to be born there, and thus they practice day and night with the thought of the Buddha. Why is that? Subhuti, those irreversible Bodhisattva Mahasattvas mostly generate thoughts associated with the desire realm and abide in the path of the ten virtuous actions, and therefore they will be born in those Buddhafields. They generate the first dhyana, the second dhyana, the third dhyana, and the fourth dhyana. They generate up to the point of entering the realm of neither perception nor non-perception, and they are born where the Thus-Gone Ones, the Arhats, the Perfectly Awakened Ones, manifestly reside and sustain themselves, and where they teach the Dharma. Subhuti, Bodhisattva Mahasattvas who possess those forms, those qualities, and those characteristics should be known as irreversible. Furthermore, Subhuti, irreversible Bodhisattvas,

He abides in the ten powers, the limbs of enlightenment, the noble eightfold path, the noble truths, meditative stabilizations, immeasurables, formless absorptions, the eight liberations, the nine successive abidings in meditative stabilization, emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, extrasensory perception, the doors of samādhi and dhāraṇī, the ten powers of the Tathāgata, the four fearlessnesses, the four kinds of perfect knowledge, great love, great compassion, and the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha. He does not think, 'I am not a backslider or a non-backslider.' He does not generate doubt, and he has no uncertainty about his own ground. Why is that? It is because he does not truly see even a particle of phenomena related to backsliding or non-backsliding. Subhūti, for example, when a stream-enterer abides in the ground of a stream-enterer, he has no hesitation or doubt about his own ground. A once-returner abides in the ground of a once-returner, a non-returner abides in the ground of a non-returner, and an arhat abides in the ground of an arhat, he has no hesitation or doubt about his own ground. A solitary buddha abides in the ground of a solitary buddha, he has no hesitation or doubt about his own ground. A bodhisattva abides in the ground of a bodhisattva, he has no hesitation or doubt. A perfectly complete Buddha, when abiding in the ground of a perfectly complete Buddha, has no hesitation or doubt about his own ground. Subhūti, similarly, when a bodhisattva mahāsattva abides in his own ground, he has no hesitation or doubt, and therefore he abides in the ground of non-retrogression, and he also completely purifies the Buddha-fields, and he also completely matures sentient beings. He also knows the deeds of Māra that arise and occur, and he does not come under the power of the deeds of Māra. He completely destroys and weakens all those deeds of Māra. Subhūti, for example, a person who commits the five immediate negativities does not stop committing the five immediate negativities even until death.

does not separate from the mind, and the uninterrupted mind follows. That uninterrupted mind cannot be destroyed even by all skillful means, because all arising follows even until death. Subhuti, similarly, the irreversible mind of a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who is irreversible also abides in the irreversible ground. Since that mind is indistinguishable and unmotivated, it cannot be turned back by the world with gods, humans, and asuras. Why is that? Because that mind has transcended the world with gods, humans, and asuras, and having entered into true faultlessness, it abides in its own realm. Having attained the supreme perfection of those with clairvoyance, it makes the Buddha-fields completely pure. It also brings beings to complete maturity. In order to behold the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, to pay homage to them, and to listen to the Dharma, they also go from one Buddha-field to another. Those Buddha-fields also accumulate many roots of virtue for the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, and they inquire, ask, and serve those Buddhas, the Bhagavat. Subhuti, when the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva abides in this way, he understands the arising and occurrence of the works of Mara, and he does not go under the power of the arising and occurrence of the works of Mara. He also skillfully connects those works of Mara to the true limit, and he is unwavering and without doubt in his own realm. Why is that? Because he is unwavering in the true limit, he does not truly see one or two true limits. Knowing this, even after death, he does not generate the mind of a Hearer or a Solitary Buddha. Why is that? Subhuti, because the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva does not truly see the arising, cessation, defilement, or purification of any Dharma, because all Dharmas are empty of their own characteristics. Subhuti, even after the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva passes away, he...
