If, O Blessed One, even form is unborn, then even the eighteen unmixed qualities of a Buddha are unborn, even omniscience is unborn, even ordinary beings are unborn, even the dharmas of ordinary beings are unborn, even stream-enterers and the dharmas of stream-enterers are unborn, even once-returners and the dharmas of once-returners are unborn, even non-returners and the dharmas of non-returners are unborn, even Arhats and the dharmas of Arhats are unborn, even Pratyekabuddhas and the dharmas of Pratyekabuddhas are unborn, even Bodhisattvas are unborn, even the dharmas of Bodhisattvas are unborn, even Buddhas are unborn, even the dharmas of Buddhas are unborn, then even those who are followers of the vehicle of the Hearers will have already attained the fruit of stream-entry, the fruit of once-returning, the fruit of non-returning, and Arhatship itself. Even those who are followers of the vehicle of the Pratyekabuddhas will have already attained the enlightenment of a Pratyekabuddha. Even Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas will have already attained omniscience. The five kinds of beings will also become undifferentiated. Even Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas will have already attained the five kinds of enlightenment. O venerable Subhuti, if all dharmas are unborn, why does a stream-enterer cultivate the path in order to abandon the three fetters? Why does a once-returner cultivate the path in order to thin out desire, hatred, and delusion? Why does a non-returner cultivate the path in order to abandon the five fetters associated with the inferior state? Why does an Arhat cultivate the path in order to abandon all the fetters associated with the superior state? Why does one who has entered the vehicle of the Pratyekabuddhas cultivate the path for the sake of self-enlightenment? Why do Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas thus experience suffering and practice austerities for the sake of sentient beings? Why does the Tathagata manifestly awaken to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment? Why does the Tathagata turn the wheel of the Dharma?

Circumference. Having spoken thus, the venerable Subhuti said to the venerable Sariputraputra: "Venerable Sariputraputra, I do not wish that in the unborn dharma there should be something attainable or something to be attained. I do not wish that in the unborn dharma there should be a stream-enterer. I do not wish that there should be a fruit in the stream-enterer. I do not wish that in the unborn dharma there should be a once-returner. I do not wish that there should be a fruit in the once-returner. I do not wish that in the unborn dharma there should be a non-returner. I do not wish that there should be a fruit in the non-returner. I do not wish that in the unborn dharma there should be an Arhat. I do not wish that there should be something to be realized in the Arhat. I do not wish that in the unborn dharma there should be a Pratyekabuddha. I do not wish that there should be Pratyekabuddha enlightenment. Venerable Sariputraputra, I do not wish that a Bodhisattva Mahasattva should practice difficult practices. A Bodhisattva Mahasattva also does not practice with the thought of practicing difficult practices. Why is that? Venerable Sariputraputra, if one generates the thought of suffering, then one cannot accomplish the benefit of immeasurable and countless sentient beings. Venerable Sariputraputra, if one generates the thought of mother towards sentient beings, generates the thought of sister, generates the thought of oneself, generates the thought of son, then one can also accomplish the benefit of countless and immeasurable sentient beings in a way that is not dependent. A Bodhisattva Mahasattva generates the mind in this way: Just as I and mine, in all places, at all times, everything is non-existent and unattainable, so also one generates the thought towards the inner and outer dharmas, and although one generates the thought in this way, one does not generate the thought of joy. Why is that? Because in this way, he does not take or cling to any dharma. Venerable Sariputraputra, I do not wish that in the unborn dharma there should be a Tathagata. Nor do I wish that there should be unexcelled perfect enlightenment. As the Tathagata turns the wheel of Dharma, there is nothing to be attained or realized by the unborn dharma. Venerable

Venerable Subhuti, do you wish to attain through arisen dharmas? Or do you wish to attain through unarisen dharmas? Subhuti said: Son of Saradvatiputra, I do not wish to attain through arisen dharmas, nor do I wish to attain through unarisen dharmas. Said: Venerable Subhuti, then is there no attainment and no realization? Subhuti said: Son of Saradvatiputra, there is attainment and there is realization, but not through either of the two. Son of Saradvatiputra, attainment or realization is designated by worldly convention. Stream-enterer, or once-returner, or non-returner, or Arhat, or Pratyekabuddha, or Bodhisattva, or Buddhas, are also designated by worldly convention. In ultimate reality, there is no designation of attainment or realization, or stream-enterer, or once-returner, or non-returner, or Arhat, or Pratyekabuddha, or Bodhisattva, or Buddha. Said: Venerable Subhuti, the existence of attainment and realization in worldly convention, similarly, are the five destinies different in worldly convention, but not in ultimate reality? Said: Son of Saradvatiputra, it is just so. Just as attainment and realization exist in worldly convention, similarly, the five destinies are different in worldly convention, but not in ultimate reality. Why is that? Son of Saradvatiputra, in ultimate reality, there is no karma, no ripening of karma, no birth, no cessation, no defilement, and no purification. Said: Venerable Subhuti, will unarisen dharmas arise? Or will arisen dharmas arise? Subhuti said: Son of Saradvatiputra, I do not wish for unarisen dharmas to arise, nor do I wish for arisen dharmas to arise. The Twenty-five Thousand Verse Perfection of Wisdom, Chapter Twenty-six. Said: Venerable Subhuti, what is it that you do not wish for unarisen dharmas to arise? Subhuti said:
