Shariputra, form is like space. Feeling, perception, volition, and consciousness are also like space. Why is that? Shariputra, for example, in space, the prior limit is not observed, the later limit and the middle are not observed, because it is infinitely boundless. Therefore, it is called space. Shariputra, similarly, because form is emptiness, the prior limit of form is not observed, the later limit and the middle are not observed. Feeling, perception, volition, and consciousness are emptiness. Therefore, the prior limit of consciousness is not observed, the later limit and the middle are not observed. Because in emptiness, there is no limit or middle. Shariputra, in this way, form is everywhere boundless. Because feeling, perception, volition, and consciousness are everywhere boundless, a Bodhisattva should understand that everything is everywhere boundless. Shariputra, the aggregates, the realms, dependent origination, the perfections, all emptiness, the aspects of enlightenment, the noble truths, meditation, the immeasurables, the formless absorptions, the eight liberations, the nine successive abidings, emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, clairvoyance, samadhi, the doors of dharani, the ten powers, fearlessness, the individual perfect knowledges, and the unshared qualities of a Buddha are like space. Why is that? Shariputra, for example, in space, the prior limit is not observed, the later limit is not observed, the middle is not observed, because it is infinitely boundless. Therefore, it is called space. Shariputra, similarly, because the unshared qualities of a Buddha are emptiness, the prior limit of the unshared qualities of a Buddha is not observed, the later limit is not observed, the middle is not observed.
