Furthermore, do not become arrogant about those that are without characteristics and without aspirations. For there is no essence in that. Likewise, choose the superknowledges, (saying:) "Hey, sentient beings, come here! Meditate on the superknowledges!" Do not become arrogant about those superknowledges either. For there is no essence in that. Likewise, choose the samādhis, (saying:) "Hey, sentient beings, come here! Meditate on the samādhis!" Do not become arrogant about those samādhis either. For there is no essence in that. Likewise, choose the doors of dhāraṇī, (saying:) "Hey, sentient beings, come here! Meditate on the doors of dhāraṇī!" Do not become arrogant about those doors of dhāraṇī either. For there is no essence in that. Likewise, choose the ten powers of the Tathāgata, (saying:) "Hey, sentient beings, come here! Meditate on the ten powers of the Tathāgata!" Do not become arrogant about those ten powers of the Tathāgata either. For there is no essence in that. Likewise, choose the four fearlessnesses, (saying:) "Hey, sentient beings, come here! Meditate on the four fearlessnesses!" Do not become arrogant about those fearlessnesses either. For there is no essence in that. Likewise, choose the four analytical knowledges, (saying:) "Hey, sentient beings, come here! Meditate on the four analytical knowledges!" Do not become arrogant about those analytical knowledges either. For there is no essence in that. Likewise, choose great compassion, (saying:) "Hey, sentient beings, come here! Meditate on great compassion!" Do not become arrogant about great compassion either. For there is no essence in that. Likewise, choose the Buddha's unshared qualities, (saying:) "Hey, sentient beings, come here! Meditate on the Buddha's unshared qualities!" Do not become arrogant about those Buddha's unshared qualities either. For there is no essence in that. Likewise, choose the fruit of stream-entry, (saying:) "Hey, sentient beings, come here!

There, one should encourage the attainment of the once-returner fruit, saying, "Sentient beings, come! Cultivate the once-returner fruit! Even having attained the once-returner fruit, one should not be arrogant about it, because there is no essence in it." Similarly, one should encourage the attainment of the non-returner fruit, saying, "Sentient beings, come! Cultivate the non-returner fruit! Even having attained the non-returner fruit, one should not be arrogant about it, because there is no essence in it." Similarly, one should encourage the attainment of Arhatship, saying, "Sentient beings, come! Cultivate Arhatship! Even having attained Arhatship, one should not be arrogant about it, because there is no essence in it." Similarly, one should encourage the attainment of solitary enlightenment, saying, "Sentient beings, come! Cultivate solitary enlightenment! Even having attained solitary enlightenment, one should not be arrogant about it, because there is no essence in it." Similarly, one should encourage the knowledge of the aspects of the path, saying, "Sentient beings, come! Cultivate the knowledge of the aspects of the path! Even having known the aspects of the path, one should not be arrogant about it, because there is no essence in it." Similarly, one should encourage the attainment of all-knowingness, saying, "Sentient beings, come! Cultivate all-knowingness! Even having attained all-knowingness, one should not be arrogant about it, because there is no essence in it." In this way, he encourages sentient beings, then teaches them, and leads them into the bodhisattva path, but he has no attachment to anything. Why? Because all dharmas are without the nature of attachment, because their nature is emptiness. There is nothing that has the nature to be attached to. The Hundred Thousand Verses on the Perfection of Wisdom, Chapter Twenty. Subhuti, in this way, a bodhisattva mahasattva practices the path of enlightenment, but does not abide in anything. He practices the perfection of generosity in a way that does not abide, and he does not abide in it. He practices the perfection of ethics, and he does not abide in it. He practices the perfection of patience, and he does not abide in it. He practices the perfection of diligence, and he does not abide in it.
