If not, then the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, even having trained in all dharmas, will not realize unexcelled, perfect and complete enlightenment. Subhuti, because all dharmas are empty, therefore the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, having trained in all dharmas, will realize unexcelled, perfect and complete enlightenment. Subhuti, you also say this: If all dharmas are empty of inherent existence, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva will distinguish, saying, "These are these," that is, "These are worldly dharmas, these are supramundane dharmas, these are contaminated dharmas, these are uncontaminated dharmas, these are conditioned dharmas, these are unconditioned dharmas, these are dharmas of ordinary beings, these are dharmas of stream-enterers, these are dharmas of once-returners, these are dharmas of non-returners, these are dharmas of Arhats, these are dharmas of Pratyekabuddhas, these are dharmas of Bodhisattvas, these are dharmas of Buddhas," and thus differentiate dharmas. Subhuti, what do you think? Do these sentient beings know that all dharmas are empty? If they know, then the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, even having trained in all dharmas, will not attain all-knowingness. Subhuti, because these sentient beings do not know that all dharmas are empty, therefore the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, having realized unexcelled, perfect and complete enlightenment, will differentiate dharmas and teach the Dharma to sentient beings. Subhuti, in that, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, engaging in the Bodhisattva path, should first thoroughly examine it in this way: Apart from conceptual designation, there is no dharma here that is inherently observable. One should thoroughly examine it in this way. Having thus contemplated the inherent nature of all dharmas, the perfection of generosity, or the perfection of ethics, or patience

Or the perfection of generosity, or the perfection of diligence, or the perfection of meditation, or the perfection of wisdom, or inner emptiness, or outer emptiness, or inner-outer emptiness, or emptiness emptiness, or great emptiness, or ultimate emptiness, or conditioned emptiness, or unconditioned emptiness, or emptiness that transcends extremes, or emptiness without beginning or end, or emptiness without abandonment, or self-nature emptiness, or all phenomena emptiness, or self-characteristic emptiness, or unobservable emptiness, or non-entity emptiness, or essence emptiness, or the essence of non-entity emptiness, or the four mindfulnesses, or the four right abandonments, or the four legs of miraculous power, or the five faculties, or the five powers, or the seven branches of enlightenment, or the eightfold noble path, or the four noble truths, or the four meditations, or the four immeasurables, or the four formless absorptions, or the eight liberations, or the nine successive abidings in meditative absorption, or the doors of liberation: emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness, or the superknowledges, or the samadhis, or the doors of dharani, or the ten powers of the Tathagata, or the four fearlessnesses, or the four analytical knowledges, or great compassion, or the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha, or the fruit of stream-enterer, or the fruit of once-returner, or the fruit of non-returner, or Arhatship, or self-enlightenment, or knowledge of the aspects of the path, or unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment, one does not become attached to any dharma. Why is that? Because all dharmas are empty by their very nature. Emptiness does not become attached to emptiness. If emptiness itself has no object, what need is there to mention someone becoming attached to emptiness? Subhuti, thus, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, without attachment to any dharma, practices with all dharmas. This should be learned.

Dwelling in this place, observing how these sentient beings should act, he thinks to himself: Alas, these sentient beings act in clinging to what is not true. Alas, it is difficult to liberate these sentient beings from clinging to what is not true. At that time, with skillful means, he abides in the Perfection of Wisdom and teaches thus: “Hey, sentient beings, come here! Give alms, and you will become wealthy. But do not become arrogant because of wealth, for it has no essence.” Similarly, he encourages keeping the precepts, saying: “Hey, sentient beings, come here! Keep the precepts, but do not become arrogant because of keeping the precepts, for it has no essence.” Similarly, he encourages practicing patience, saying: “Hey, sentient beings, come here! Practice patience, but do not become arrogant because of practicing patience, for it has no essence.” Similarly, he encourages diligence, saying: “Hey, sentient beings, come here! Exert diligence, but do not become arrogant because of diligence, for it has no essence.” Similarly, he encourages meditation, saying: “Hey, sentient beings, come here! Abide in meditation, but do not become arrogant because of meditation, for it has no essence.” Similarly, he encourages wisdom, saying: “Hey, sentient beings, come here! Cultivate wisdom, but do not become arrogant because of wisdom, for it has no essence.” Similarly, he encourages inner emptiness, saying: “Hey, sentient beings, come here! Cultivate inner emptiness, but do not become arrogant because of inner emptiness, for it has no essence.” Similarly, he encourages outer emptiness, saying: “Hey, sentient beings, come here! Cultivate outer emptiness, but do not become arrogant because of outer emptiness, for it has no essence.” Similarly, he encourages inner and outer emptiness, saying: “Hey, sentient beings, come here! Cultivate inner and outer emptiness, but do not become arrogant because of inner and outer emptiness, for it has no essence.” Similarly, he encourages emptiness of emptiness, saying: “Hey, sentient beings, come here!
