This is the training in the five aggregates. The Blessed One said: Subhuti, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he should thoroughly understand form, thoroughly understand how form arises, thoroughly understand how form ceases, and thoroughly understand what the Suchness of form is. How does one thoroughly understand form? For example, like a mass of foam, without essence, extremely empty, extremely loose, and extremely without core, one should thoroughly understand. Thus, one understands form. How does one understand the arising and ceasing of form? Form has no coming from anywhere, nor going to anywhere. Since it does not come from anywhere and does not go anywhere, whatever has not come from anywhere has not gone anywhere. Thus, one understands the arising and ceasing of form. How does one understand the Suchness of form? The Suchness of form is neither arising nor ceasing, without coming or going, not defiled, not purified, not decreasing, not increasing, not inverted, but abiding as it is. Therefore, it is called Suchness. Thus, one understands the Suchness of form. How does one understand feeling? For example, like a water bubble in water, arising and ceasing momentarily, thus one understands feeling. Thus, one understands feeling. How does one understand the arising and ceasing of feeling? Feeling has no coming from anywhere, nor going to anywhere. Since it does not come from anywhere and does not go anywhere, whatever has not come from anywhere has not gone anywhere. Thus, one understands the arising and ceasing of feeling. How does one understand the Suchness of feeling? The Suchness of feeling is neither arising nor ceasing, without coming or going, not defiled, not purified, not decreasing, not increasing, not inverted, but abiding as it is. Therefore, it is called Suchness. Thus, one understands the Suchness of feeling. How does one understand perception? For example, like a mirage.

Just as water in an illusion is completely imperceptible, so it is known that feeling is understood. How is the arising and ceasing of feeling known? Feeling does not come from anywhere, nor does it go anywhere, so it does not come from anywhere, nor does it go anywhere. It is to be known that whatever has not come from anywhere has not gone anywhere. Thus, the arising and ceasing of feeling is known. How is the suchness of feeling known? The suchness of feeling is unborn, unceasing, without coming, without going, not completely afflicted, not completely purified, not decreasing, not increasing, not inverted, but abiding in suchness. Therefore, it is called suchness. Thus, the suchness of feeling is known. How is formation known? For example, if the bark of a tree is separated, it is known as if the heartwood is completely imperceptible. Thus, formation is known. How is the arising and ceasing of formation known? Formation does not come from anywhere, nor does it go anywhere, so it does not come from anywhere, nor does it go anywhere. It is to be known that whatever has not come from anywhere has not gone anywhere. Thus, the arising and ceasing of formation is known. How is the suchness of formation known? The suchness of formation is unborn, unceasing, without coming, without going, not completely afflicted, not completely purified, not decreasing, not increasing, not inverted, but abiding in suchness. Therefore, it is called suchness. Thus, the suchness of formation is known. How is consciousness known? For example, it is known as like an army assembled by a magician, having four parts. Thus, consciousness is known. How is the arising and ceasing of consciousness known? Consciousness does not come from anywhere, nor does it go anywhere, so it does not come from anywhere, nor does it go anywhere. It is to be known that whatever has not come from anywhere has not gone anywhere.
