Having arisen from the animal realm, and having arisen, they are born among gods and humans. Having been born in those places, they also please the Buddhas, the Bhagavat. They attend to and honor those Buddhas, the Bhagavat. They hear the Dharma from those Buddhas, the Bhagavat, and diligently practice accordingly. They, by means of the Hearer Vehicle, or the Solitary Buddha Vehicle, or the Great Vehicle, or those three vehicles, gradually enter completely into the realm of nirvana without remainder, seeing peace. Subhuti, thus, those Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas who generate the mind for unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment, and who diligently practice accordingly, are those who accomplish so many benefits. Subhuti, again, from here I look upon the world with the eye of a Buddha. In the world-realms in the northeast direction, as many as the sands of the Ganges River, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas completely give themselves for the sake of sentient beings who belong to the animal realm. There, those Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas cut and sever their limbs and branches, scattering them in the ten directions. Those sentient beings who belong to the animal realm, having eaten the flesh of those Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas, develop loving-kindness towards those Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas. Having developed that loving-kindness, they arise from the animal realm, and having arisen, they are born among gods and humans.

Thus I have heard. Those who diligently apply themselves in this way accomplish many benefits. Subhuti, again, from here, with the Buddha's eye, I observe the world. In the southeast direction, in world realms as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River, bodhisattva-mahasattvas give themselves up for the sake of sentient beings born in the animal realm. There, those bodhisattva-mahasattvas have their limbs and extremities cut off and scattered in the ten directions. Those sentient beings belonging to the animal realm eat the flesh of those bodhisattva-mahasattvas, and those beings develop love for those bodhisattva-mahasattvas. Having developed love, they rise up from the animal realm. Having risen up, they are born among gods and humans. Even having been born among them, they please the Buddhas, the Bhagavat. Those beings honor and serve those Buddhas, the Bhagavat. Those beings hear the Dharma from those Buddhas, the Bhagavat, and diligently apply themselves accordingly. Those beings, through the vehicle of the Hearers, or the vehicle of the Solitary Buddhas, or the Great Vehicle, or these three vehicles, gradually enter completely into the realm of nirvana without remainder, seeing complete extinction. Subhuti, thus, Those bodhisattva-mahasattvas who generate the mind for unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, and who diligently apply themselves in this way, accomplish many benefits. Subhuti, again, from here, with the Buddha's eye, I observe the world. In the southwest direction, in world realms as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River, bodhisattva-mahasattvas give themselves up for the sake of sentient beings born in the animal realm.
