By way of the nature of non-existence, one perfects the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha. By way of the nature of non-substantiality, one perfects omniscience. By way of the nature of non-substantiality, one perfects the knowledge of the aspects of the path. By way of the nature of non-substantiality, one perfects all-knowingness. That is because all phenomena will manifestly and perfectly awaken to Buddhahood in the nature of non-substantiality. If there is no concept of existence or non-existence in that, then what need is there to say that even a tiny bit of the function of mindfulness exists or becomes separated from mindfulness? Subhuti, how does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva cultivate mindfulness of the Dharma? Subhuti, in this way, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, from the moment of first generating the mind, closely adheres to the perfection of wisdom. When practicing, with the intention of possessing all-knowingness, having realized that all phenomena are the nature of non-substantiality, and then cultivating mindfulness of the Dharma, one does not attend to virtuous dharmas, one does not attend to non-virtuous dharmas, one does not attend to worldly dharmas, one does not attend to transcendental dharmas, one does not attend to contaminated dharmas, one does not attend to uncontaminated dharmas, one does not attend to noble dharmas, one does not attend to non-noble dharmas, one does not attend to contaminated dharmas, one does not attend to uncontaminated dharmas, one does not attend to dharmas belonging to the desire realm, one does not attend to dharmas belonging to the form realm, one does not attend to dharmas belonging to the formless realm, one does not attend to conditioned dharmas, one does not attend to unconditioned dharmas. What is the reason for this? Because those dharmas do not have self-nature. Those that do not have self-nature are non-substantial. Because of non-substantiality, one cannot remember non-substantiality. What is the reason for this? Because not remembering and not attending is mindfulness of the Dharma. Subhuti, thus a Bodhisattva
