This should be done. Why is that? Subhuti, such a person should be recognized as having excessive pride. If a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva has not abandoned the all-knowingness itself, and has not abandoned the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, then a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who firmly desires to attain unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, who desires to benefit all sentient beings, should not approach, should not rely on, should not serve someone with such a mindset. One should strive to make oneself meaningful, and with a mind that is weary and fearful of samsara, one should practice without mixing with the three realms. One should also generate loving-kindness towards the Chandala Bodhisattva, and out of compassion for them, generate compassion, generate joy and equanimity. One should generate this kind of thought: In any case, one should ensure that these faults of mine do not arise completely and utterly, and if they do arise, one should quickly abandon them. Subhuti, that should be recognized as the power of the direct perception that Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas have realized themselves. Furthermore, Subhuti, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who, with heightened aspiration, desires to awaken to unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, should now attend upon virtuous friends, should rely on them, and should serve them. The question is, Blessed One, who are those who should be recognized as virtuous friends of the Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas? The Blessed One said: Subhuti, the Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, should be recognized as the virtuous friends of the Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas. Subhuti, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas should be recognized as the virtuous friends of the Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas. Subhuti, those Hearers who proclaim and teach the six perfections, who explain and interpret them, who differentiate and clarify them, and who truly instruct, those are also Bodhisattvas.
