Furthermore, Subhuti, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Dhyana, does he see beings afflicted by desire, afflicted by hatred, afflicted by sloth and torpor, afflicted by restlessness and regret, afflicted by doubt, obscured by the five obscurations? Does he see them not associated with the first dhyana? Does he see them not associated with the second dhyana? Does he see them not associated with the third dhyana? Does he see them not associated with the fourth dhyana? Does he see them not associated with loving-kindness? Does he see them not associated with compassion? Does he see them not associated with joy? Does he see them not associated with equanimity? Does he not? Does he see them not associated with the attainment of the sphere of infinite space? Does he see them not associated with the attainment of the sphere of infinite consciousness? Does he see them not associated with the attainment of the sphere of nothingness? Does he see them not associated with the attainment of the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception? He should thoroughly examine this, thinking: 'May it be that in that Buddha-field where I become perfectly enlightened in unsurpassed, complete, and perfect enlightenment, all such faults of beings will never occur or exist. May all beings attain the dhyanas, attain the immeasurables, and attain the formless absorptions.' Thus, again and again, he should practice the Perfection of Dhyana. He should purify the Buddha-field. He should ripen beings. Thus he should thoroughly examine. Subhuti, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who practices in this way also perfects the Perfection of Dhyana and comes close to unsurpassed, complete, and perfect enlightenment. Furthermore, Subhuti, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, does he see beings with corrupt wisdom, who are separated from the correct view of the world and beyond, who speak of what is not done, who speak of non-existence, who speak of annihilation, who speak of permanence, who speak of beings? He should thoroughly examine this, thinking: 'May it be that in that unsurpassed'

In that Buddha-field where one manifestly and completely awakens to perfect enlightenment, all these faults of sentient beings will not occur and will not exist. All sentient beings will abandon all aspects of viewing and will abide in the Perfection of Wisdom. Thus, thus, one should practice the Perfection of Wisdom. One should purify the Buddha-field. One should ripen sentient beings. Thus, thus, one should thoroughly examine. Subhuti, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who practices in this way also perfects the Perfection of Wisdom and is also close to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Furthermore, Subhuti, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the six perfections, if they see sentient beings abiding in the three groups—the determined, the undetermined, and the wrongly determined—they should thoroughly examine in this way: 'By all means, in that Buddha-field where I manifestly and completely awaken to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, even the sound of undetermined and wrongly determined sentient beings will not be heard and will not exist.' Thus, thus, one should practice the six perfections. One should purify the Buddha-field. One should ripen sentient beings. Thus, thus, one should thoroughly examine. Subhuti, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who practices in this way also perfects the six perfections and is also close to omniscience. Furthermore, Subhuti, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the six perfections, if they see sentient beings in the hell realm, or those born as animals, or sentient beings in the realm of Yama, they should thoroughly examine in this way: 'By all means, in that Buddha-field where I manifestly and completely awaken to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, even the sound of the three lower realms will not be heard and will not exist.' Thus, thus, one should practice the six perfections. One should purify the Buddha-field. One should ripen sentient beings.' Thus
