When a great hero practices the six perfections, he should thoroughly examine as follows: Just because some world realms become my Buddha-field, I should not attain the unexcelled, perfect, complete enlightenment. It is imperative that when I attain the unexcelled, perfect, complete enlightenment, world realms as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River become one Buddha-field of mine; thus, one should practice the six perfections. One should make the Buddha-field completely pure. One should make sentient beings completely mature. One should thoroughly examine in this way. Subhuti, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who practices in this way also perfects the six perfections and is very close to omniscience. Furthermore, Subhuti, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the six perfections, he should thoroughly examine as follows: Alas, this samsara is so long! Alas, the realm of sentient beings is so limitless! Therefore, one should properly direct one's mind in this way: Alas, this samsara is as limitless as the sky! Alas, the realm of sentient beings is as limitless as the sky! In this, there is neither samsara nor nirvana. Otherwise, it is merely in the nomenclature of Dharma that the terms sentient being, samsara, or nirvana are designated. One should thoroughly examine in this way. Subhuti, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who practices in this way also perfects the six perfections and is very close to omniscience.
