E. Therefore, because one does not properly see the characteristics, life is completely pure. Subhuti, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who is endowed with those aspects, those ways, and those signs should be known as irreversible. Subhuti, furthermore, with what aspects, what ways, and what signs is a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva endowed, by which the aspects, ways, and signs by which a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva is known to be irreversible? Please explain, listen very well, and keep it in mind, and I will explain. "Venerable One, so be it," he replied. The venerable Subhuti listened again to the Blessed One. The Blessed One said to him: Subhuti, here, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he is inseparable from the thought of enlightenment. He does not dwell on the combination of aggregates. He does not dwell on the combination of elements. He does not dwell on the combination of sense sources. He does not dwell on the combination and subsequent combination of dependent origination. Why is that? Because it is like this: that Bodhisattva-Mahasattva has very much in mind the emptiness of aggregates. He has very much in mind the emptiness of elements. He has very much in mind the emptiness of sense sources. He has very much in mind the emptiness of dependent origination. He does not dwell on the combination and subsequent combination of turmoil. Why is that? Because it is like this: that Bodhisattva-Mahasattva has very much in mind the emptiness of sentient beings. He does not dwell on the combination and subsequent combination of the talk of kings. Why is that? Because it is like this: he abides in the emptiness of inherent existence, therefore he does not properly see any dharma as good or bad. He does not dwell on the combination and subsequent combination of the talk of thieves. Why is that? Because it is like this: because all dharmas are empty of their own characteristics, therefore he does not properly see any dharma as to be taken or stolen. He

He does not dwell on being diligent in connecting and subsequently connecting to the speech of countries. Why is that? Because, like this, he dwells in the emptiness of self-nature, so he does not truly see any dharma, whether small or large. He does not dwell on being diligent in connecting and subsequently connecting to the speech of armies. Why is that? Because, like this, he dwells in the suchness of all dharmas, so he does not truly see any dharma, whether loving or hateful. He does not dwell on being diligent in connecting and subsequently connecting to the speech of villages. Why is that? Because, like this, he dwells in the emptiness of all dharmas. So he does not truly see any dharma, whether assembled or not assembled. He does not dwell on being diligent in connecting and subsequently connecting to the speech of cities. Why is that? Because, like this, he dwells in the emptiness of space. So he does not truly see any dharma, whether grasped or not grasped. He does not dwell on being diligent in connecting and subsequently connecting to the speech of towns. Why is that? Because, like this, he dwells on the true edge. So he does not truly see any dharma, whether increasing or decreasing. He does not dwell on being diligent in connecting and subsequently connecting to the speech of bad kalpas. He does not dwell on being diligent in connecting and subsequently connecting to the speech of sentient beings.

One should not dwell on striving for and subsequently striving for speech. Otherwise, one should strive for the creation of speech of the perfection of wisdom, and one should not be separated from the attention that possesses all knowledge. He should practice the perfection of giving, and should not dwell on striving for and subsequently striving for stinginess. He should practice the perfection of morality, and should not dwell on striving for and subsequently striving for bad morality. He should practice the perfection of patience, and should not dwell on striving for and subsequently striving for strife. He should practice the perfection of diligence, and should not dwell on striving for and subsequently striving for laziness. He should practice the perfection of meditation, and should not dwell on striving for and subsequently striving for distraction. He should practice the perfection of wisdom, and should not dwell on striving for and subsequently striving for perverse wisdom. He should practice all dharmas in emptiness, desiring dharma, not not desiring dharma. He should practice the realm of dharma, which is the good speech that speaks of the differences of dharmas. He should not regard the Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, and the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas as virtuous friends. As many sons and daughters of good families who are Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, they should also be encouraged and established in the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Subdue them, and guide them well. He should please the Tathagatas, the Arhats, the Perfectly Awakened Ones, and for the sake of seeing, he is born in whatever world realm they dwell, live, and protect, and he desires to be born there. Thus, he practices day and night with mindfulness of the Buddha. What is the reason for this? Subhuti, because those irreversible Bodhisattva Mahasattvas mostly generate attention that is associated with the desire realm, and abide in the path of the ten virtuous actions, they will be born in those Buddhafields. Generate the first dhyana, generate the second dhyana.
