Bodhi is difficult to achieve for those who are lazy, without diligence, with weak minds, with low faith, and with scattered wisdom. Kausika, I have not obscured the Buddha's eye from here. In the worlds of the southern direction, as many as the sands of the Ganges River, countless and immeasurable sentient beings, even if they practice towards the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, because they do not possess the skillful means of the Perfection of Wisdom, only one or two of them will abide in the irreversible stage, while most of them will abide in the stages of Sravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, I have seen. Why is that? Kausika, unsurpassed perfect enlightenment is difficult to achieve for those who are lazy, without diligence, with weak minds, with low faith, and with scattered wisdom.
